ihug bliink 256k has gone unlimited- installation up to 3 weeks

ihug bliink 256k now has no data caps & no trottling for the home user
-------------
the installation will be completed within 5 -7 working days. Note - Due to high customer demand, installations during the month of November will take at least 3 weeks to process.

guess they are in the same boat as orcon

Afaik they can't throttle you back to 64k until telecom give them layer 2 access (which they will do soon). Will be interesting to see if ihug stay unlimited or do throttle people once they do get layer 2

noodles is correct, this is a recent change to bliink 256
it used to have a 10gb cap (5 peak 5 off peak from memory)
speed trottled back once you used your data limits

now unlimted , at i guess the change is to compete with orcon's unlimited offering or it's because they found out they can't do it yet on UBS who knows

bliink 256k $49.95 / month if ihug tolls are also used

Jeez, you're pretty uptight on this stuff these days Macca.

Are they paying you for this cheerleading?

re: 3 week wait

afaik:
Telecom will only sign over 100 users during an ISP's "trial period" of UBS, wether an ISP wishes to offer UBS to customers during their trial period is up to them, it seems most have, as True UBS went live Nov 8th - so we're still in that period.

After that, telecom will change upto 30 users per 3hrs. so approx 90 people a day, during 8-5 business hours.

I think most ISP's are saying they can change people over during the trial period, which is causing the delays.. well thats what my workplace has done

Sure you are. It's just you don't seem to realise you have almost become the exact opposite of Hannibal on here. Him on one extreme, you on the other.

hmm....

Note:

* Account types are flat rate; speed is limited to 64k after a quota has been reached on the bliink 256k lite plan. No excess fees apply
* Traffic includes national and international data.
* Peak 8am - Midnight. Off-peak Midnight - 8am.

Seems a little strange that a page saying umlimited downloads has a note about being shoved back to 64kb after you have burn through your limit

because if you read it properly, the speed reduction is refering to bliink lite not bliink 256. you even quoted it yourself

the only drawback i can see with bliink is if you have to use dailup
it's costs 2.00 per hr.
used to be covered by your jetstart/jetream monthy account

"You no longer need a separate dial up account if you want to connect to the internet when you are away from home. Simply dial up to ihug from anywhere in NZ using your ihug bliink login. Access costs $2 per hour and traffic used does not count towards your monthly data usage totals."
