The Office (US) owns The Office (UK).

Usually people who say it the other way round never made it past the first (few) episode(s) of the US version. It gets MUCH better.

You could be right there. I've only watched 3 episodes. How many do I need to watch before it gets good?

With so much TV to watch, if I dont get hooked with the first few episodes, I give up and move onto the next show ...

The Office is the title of multiple television situation comedy shows.

The first was the UK version, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Initially broadcast on BBC Two on 9 July 2001, it ran for two seasons plus a two-part Christmas special.

The show's success prompted NBC to create an American version, which premiered on 24 March 2005, two years after the original ended. Other than the Pilot episode, the scripts for the US version are original, and not adaptations from the UK, although some scenes, general story ideas, and characters are based on the original

So as you can see, there's definitely a few people who like it..

You should've stuck it in on season 1, because season 2, 3 and 4 are SO good.

I've seen the christmas episodes as i understand that was final for the UK version He's doing something same for Extras i heard.

Anyway Helious- is right, i wasn't laughing much(if at all) during the first 3-4 episodes...it gets fucking hilarious by the second season and you start get into the characters a lot more. It isn't as bland as the UK version in some respects.

I've always put it down as british version of the show having a more subtle approach to its humour...i didn't find any of the acting to be sub-par.

Plus while the first few episodes and maybe a few themes are copied from the UK version of the Office(well duh, thats got to be expected when they both have the same name), a lot of the material from second season onwards is pretty much new.

If i were dissing any american tv, i'd start of with LOST, almost every version of CSI(especially Miami...that piece of shit)...NCIS(a.k.a magnificent re-arranging of letters - although admittedly it probably doesn't suck as much).

As for The Office, I still cant get into the U.S series. I dont know, but it must be Gervais who makes the show for me. I mean the guy can make an average scene hilarious funny with just a subtle facial expression. Something Steve Carell doesnt pull off.

Actually i'd probably be a Gervais fanboy if it wasnt for the fact his voice irritates me so. I use to listen to podcasts on Guardian but gave up because the guys a complete plonker!!!!
