I wonder if the expressions of grief over the loss of Opportunity and its final words will count in our favour come AI judgement?

It's amazing how in 1996 I still got most of my geek news from print, specifically Hyper mag. I still remember reading about Quake speed runs when rocket jumping was still unheard of. Until someone submitted a speed run to a competition, where they dominated thanks to a rocket jump.
I don't recall when I lost the stash I had.

Any of you old buggers a tax expert? Or even just know the laws?
I've got an friend who has just reached retirement age - however while she's working she loses $200 of her pension... just because.
Now that seems a tad unfair. Just because you decide to work beyond your retirement age - still paying taxes beyond retirement, that the government would choose to penalise you for doing so. So WHAT I wanted to know! If you are entitled to the pension, but are still working and losing that $200, can she write that $200 off as a loss against her work income to claim it back... or something along those lines! Is there a way for her to get that lost $200 back Cheers in advance! |

Death sucks... I've only had to deal with one death in my family. My grandad who died at age 82 or thereabouts.
Now, 15 years later I still have all other three grandparents aged between 88 and 93, but my father just died of cancer. Boys I know it's not much fun, but get your prostates checked. If they'd found my fathers even 5 years earlier, it may have been a whole different story. |

Watched Behind the Curve last night. Quite interesting. Not because of the content, but at the fair and balanced discussion that was had.
It's not a flat earth vs round earth discussion, but a genuine discussion with scientists and psychologists for insights into why people choose to believe such an outlandish theory, despite so much evidence to the contrary. On the flat earth side, it was an insight into the community and culture behind an otherwise outcast group of people with overwhelming cognitive biases. They featured a few flat earthers attempting really well thought out experiments that although they appeared to be scientific in nature, the outcomes were completely ignored every time they conflicted with their existing conclusions.
