I’ve been hanging out for someone to start doing this:

Future Fossils Podcast 72: Bio-medical Regeneration

https://steemit.com/dsound/@michaelg...rative-biotech

Quote:
We Discuss:

• Why do some other organisms (like jellyfish and amphibians) demonstrate such awesome regenerative abilities, but human beings don’t?

• How to reset a cell’s internal “clock” to zero and induce extraordinary regenerative abilities;

• How this research builds on existing science dating back to the 1950s (and retrieves “lost knowledge” from other animals we’ve been evolutionarily separated from for hundreds of millions of years);

• How biology as a lab science has changed over the last century, and how that (in part) reflects changing sentiments about the relationship between masculine and feminine, physics and biology, waves and particles;

• Neuro-regeneration and neuro-reanimation research and the link to The Immaculate Conception and our lineage’s trend toward increasing neoteny and pedomorphism;

• Regarding Liz Parrish, Aubrey DeGrey, and other death-resisting transhumanists…where does work like Bioquark’s fit into the picture of radical life extension and its current genomic/pharmaceutical bias?

• What’s the worst that could happen? Is this going to be affordable for everyone? Ira addresses issues of unequal access and (“access for everybody, it’s not just for the billionaires”) and puts Michael at ease about other possible negative outcomes. (Including ZOMBIES.)

• The Future of the Medical Industry: a decrease in pharmaceutical company dominance and the business of endless management, and the rise of a business of CURES – no lifelong dependence on medication, no 3D printed transplant organs, just good old-fashioned “miraculous” healing, along with electroceuticals, microbiome supplements, parasite-based treatments,

• The Future of Medical Research: international alliances, Right To Try, navigating a complex menu of potential regulatory environments for research, and how Merck partnered with China to create a tropical island hub for medical research tourism…

That makes me think of the unconscious mind in general, the contrast between how transparent we tend to experience our own mind and decision making processes compared to how opaque these things really are when we look closely.

Scientists successfully transplant lab-grown lungs into pigs

Essentially they've gotten as far as 'made an organ and put it in a pig', so lots of work still to be done. "Even so, the research group believes it could grow human-ready lungs in the next five to 10 years."

Roll on iterative embryo selection, eh? Who needs sperm producing men if we can create our own from stem cells.

Its a 100% western study though. I'd be more worried if a world wide study was done as conclusively as this (They say that data from other regions could correlate to this data...that ain't good enough).

Fake news, I bet the sperm count is all cyclical, and the rapid decline has nothing to do with our current lifestyle/climate/living conditions etc.

Mushrooms as Medicine with Paul Stamets
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7agK0nkiZpA

"Leading mycologist Paul Stamets shares his work exploring the diverse role medicinal mushrooms may have in activating our immune systems and helping treat cancer, to new data supporting the role of fungi in biosecurity and the health of the bees that pollinate our planet."

Old video, but Exponential Medicine 2018 had its Day 1 of the conference today, and it got me going back through their old videos.

Rocket Lab Launches 13 Cubesats on 1st Mission for NASA

Quote:
The Electron has two other orbital flights under its belt as well — demonstration missions called "Just a Test" and "Still Testing," which launched in May 2017 and January of this year, respectively. Despite its name, "Still Testing" succeeded in lofting four small satellites to orbit.

On those other flights, the rocket and mission names were the same. But that changed with ELaNa-19, whose Electron was called "This One's for Pickering." The name honors the New Zealand-born Sir William Pickering, who led the team that developed Explorer 1, the United States' first successful satellite. Pickering, who died in 2004 at age 93, also directed the Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1954 to 1976.

World-first stem cell therapy trial
https://www.latrobe.edu.au/news/arti...-therapy-trial

Man recovers from brain damage caused by a stroke.

When doctors ask you why you want to bank stem cells and tell you there are no stem cell therapy treatments available. Show them this, or walk out and find another doctor.

We recently tried to bank umbilical blood and tissue when our daughter was born. This sort of biotech breakthrough is truly amazing... unfortunately Wodonga hospital requires that you are a private patient and that your personal doctor agrees to the collection, and said doctor isn't taking a holiday on their yacht when you go into labour.
