Proof that Nicholas Cage has (slightly) more than one facial expression.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Kinda get the impression this might be a "best bits in the trailer" movie though. Hope I'm wrong.

They both look pretty cool. The question is psychedelics or depressants?

Denis Villeneuve Tackling Adaptation of Sci-Fi Classic ‘Rendezvous With Rama’

After seeing Dune I really hope this gets made.

Yes, crocos introduced us to that once, hence my contemplating psychedelics.

Don't Look Up.

It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as two astronomers attempting to warn humanity, via a media tour, about an approaching comet that will destroy Earth.
Deniers, special interest groups, conspiracies, social media echo chambers.

"Your dad and I are for the jobs the comet will produce."

Satire that's far too soon.

Loved NWH; REALLY wasn't expecting Maguire and Garfield to make appearances, and wasn't sure how it would pan out if they did ... worked really well I thought

How is it Jonah Hill plays hateable characters so well? I feel a considerable dislike for the guy and I don't even know him!

So Rocket Lab, one of the most reliable modern launch providers, with excellent reliability and affordability are just, what, chump-change? Realistically there's no way this piece wasn't scripted AF.

^^^Hmm - well not movie related (maybe I should have started that Rocket thread that Lightspeed suggested...) but Marcus House did a nice summary of stuff last year that included a few Rocket lab bits - including hat eating and carbon fibre polish.

I appreciate what Don't Look Up is clumsily trying to say, but the movie itself was an unwatchable stinker. Made Idiocracy look like Citizen Kane.

Morgan Freeman has been trying to produce this for decades. I remember seeing a concept reel from his production company about 15 years ago. Good news that the ball is finally rolling.

I liked it. Podcast the young lad was pretty funny. I always thought Gozer was a ginge?

Could have done with a touch more of the dulcet tones of Mr Simmons, and the short notes of musical throwbacks to the original soundtrack were cool.

I was all WTF when Weavers name came up in the credits - what had I missed...

Wow, even below one or both of the Thor 1 & Thor 2?

I don't think it would go that low on the overall list

It was better-looking than either of those two (note to Marvel: the real world looks better than CG) but the story was nothing, the performances were nothing, the plot was nothing, and I honestly didn't care about anyone or anything. I wanted the world to end because it would have been more interesting than the heroes saving the world.

I just turned it off after 30 minutes, and I looooove big dumb movies. But this was like sucking on stale bread. Gemma Chan and Robb Stark with some real statuesque performances.
