As a youngster we used to swim in lots of rivers. I wasn't a good swimmer so I had to be super careful. I'd walk a section of it first, walk around it again, then walk upstream of where I was planning to swim. Once I knew where the holes were and the depth of the area I'd only swim in places that both allowed me to stand and also places where if I was washed down a bit I knew I could still stand.

Even with all that we never ever swam in the Manawatu river due to both pollution (even 30+ years ago) but also because it was super dangerous due to the speed of it.

Some bright spark thought it'd be a great idea to invite some refugee migrants to a swim in the river as an introduction to the area. Some of them come back, go for a swim resulting in two deaths. Only now has the council has put up danger signs after four deaths within days.

haha, i am double vax'd (not far off a booster), everyone at F45 is required to be double vax'd

100+ days of lockdown/working from home was gay as fuark. i broke it up by doing 30 pushups/bodysquats every hour for 8hours of each day. something like, 24,000 in total

i still put on 4kgs, but i've been back training for almost a month and a kg has come off. was bizarre for me to hit 95kgs after a couple years cruising around the 91-92kg mark - makes me want to slap myself for sitting the in 110kg range for my 20s and 130kg+ for my mid 30s. been a long time since alcohol hit these lips.

chucked in the jiu jitsu, my body can't cope with being thrown, i do not land gracefully when a 120kg tongan decides to man-handle me. it's way too risky and my shoulders are prone to dislocating. can't afford to lose the time away from f45, or sit on acc and be away from work.

Car left parked on the side of the road with the lights on, windows open and a boot load of e-scooters

People swapping tyres over in their front yard giving you the evil eye

Car hooning it out of a driveway of a house that later burned down

Plenty of boy-racer types and people speeding or doing loops of the streets

People lurking on school or business properties after hours

And you know what dogs are like - all of the above gets my dog's curious eye back and frequently a standing stare.

So there's this little girl gone missing in NSW and it's awful and there are heartbreaking appeals from the girl's mother and the mother's new partner and VINYL NEEDLE SCRATCH SOUND and I feel like a terrible person for thinking it.

Update: body found, mother's new partner arrested and charged with murder.
