Dicked around with ios8 time lapse and panorama today and they seemed to work pretty well. I'm sure that there were apps (and phones) that did it already, and maybe had more settings but this is there and just works without any fiddling so yay, I like it.

Hyperlapse is sped-up interpolated video. Different.

What does comparing different generations of hardware running the same software have to do with comparing performance of different versions of software on the same hardware?

cause either way, the iphone4 takes forever to do everything. 7.1 helped a little, but sfa really.

So your point is that a 4 year old phone is comparatively slow?
And the video you posted seems to back up what bob said..? |

yes, the video shows it's faster but slow and slow + 10 seconds are both slow

posting in phone thread. hi.
i have a new phone, and for the first time in 5 years, its not an iphone. i dont miss iOS at all. the itunes syncing with the right android apps(isyncr) works BETTER than syncing with an apple device, and the apple tv in our house we use for music and movie streaming, has all but been replaced by the $50 chromecast. i also think it looks pretty nice, even with the cover on: anyways enjoy your iphones Last edited by ala* : 20th September 2014 at 18:07. Wow. iOS8 looks way cool. iOS7 was more like a reskinning than anything else, this time they've really packed some great features in.

So google just made the android one, a phone for the 5.5 billion people that don't have a smart phone. Apple just made a phone for the 1.5 billion people who might consider upgrading from their existing smart phone. Which model is more sustainable long term?
How long can they ride the, we make what people want not what they can afford and sourcing their components globally strategy?

Yeah, because fragmentation is a problem related to how many Google-branded apps are on the home screen.

As long as its not saying that they cant be removed this seems like a pretty good idea. Makes it pretty clear soon as you turn it on, this is a google phone

Yeah, I guess it is good that it lets me know I've accidentally picked up a terrible phone and to put it down before I get some kind of disease from the poors who have touched it.

Vodafone tipped me over the breaking point yesterday, left work, went to Spark and picked up an Xperia Z3.
Thoughts so far, it is a rectangle. Also the speakers on it are pretty great. I mean, to me it feels like a phone from the future but I guess any phone these days does, considering I was using TouchWiz for so long. Battery seems pretty good as well, or my S3 was just shit, it's hard to tell. |

the new Sony phone batteries are widely regarded as the best in the biz
the z3 and z3c have ridiculous on screen time, 10+ hours IIRC my mates z3 goes almost 3 days with average use |

If you watch a lot of porn that will shrink down to 3 hours tops.

If that is correct then 10 hours is hardly good I would have thought. My ip6 does 9 hours usage and 46 to 48 hours standby.

Whatever it is, it's fucking impressive. It feels like the old days again. My old phone I would constantly have plugged in to my work computer charging because with my use it would drop to nothing almost twice through a workday.
Yesterday with super extensive usage it only got down to 60% by the time I went to bed at 12am. And even then it said the phone had 2 days of battery left, or 4 days if I turned Stamina mode on (which I think just turns off wifi and shit when the phone is in sleep mode). Other than that, this phone is amazing. It's so fast with everything, the camera's okay I guess - but I've only been using it on a flat surface to play with dinosaurs with the augmented reality app haha. Looking forward to finding some fish in clear water so I can take photos then! The only con I have for it, is that the back of the phone is too fucking smooth. I'm talking even a slight incline on a wooden table it will slide away type smooth. It's pretty to look at but it's way too fucking smooth, it's easily solved with a case, though. |
