The guys here in the office had TONS of problems with users (highlighting they are _BAD_ users) and ios7 upgrades .. to the point they don't do it at all anymore.

Personally .. seems fine but I only use it for mail shit.

A bit sad when I woke up this morning and my IP5S and iPad were going "new shiny! update me!" and the IP4 was going "...what?"
So I'm guessing you're not upgrading to iCloud Drive?

Are you going to get a iwatch that rings to tell you that your ipad is ringing to tell you that someone is calling your iphone?

What if someone calls your iwatch? Does your iphone ring to tell you that someone is calling your iwatch?

Dicked around with ios8 time lapse and panorama today and they seemed to work pretty well. I'm sure that there were apps (and phones) that did it already, and maybe had more settings but this is there and just works without any fiddling so yay, I like it.

What does comparing different generations of hardware running the same software have to do with comparing performance of different versions of software on the same hardware?

So your point is that a 4 year old phone is comparatively slow?
And the video you posted seems to back up what bob said..?

posting in phone thread. hi.

i have a new phone, and for the first time in 5 years, its not an iphone.

i dont miss iOS at all. the itunes syncing with the right android apps(isyncr) works BETTER than syncing with an apple device, and the apple tv in our house we use for music and movie streaming, has all but been replaced by the $50 chromecast.

i also think it looks pretty nice, even with the cover on:

anyways enjoy your iphones

Wow. iOS8 looks way cool. iOS7 was more like a reskinning than anything else, this time they've really packed some great features in.

So google just made the android one, a phone for the 5.5 billion people that don't have a smart phone. Apple just made a phone for the 1.5 billion people who might consider upgrading from their existing smart phone. Which model is more sustainable long term?

How long can they ride the, we make what people want not what they can afford and sourcing their components globally strategy?

Yeah, because fragmentation is a problem related to how many Google-branded apps are on the home screen.

As long as its not saying that they cant be removed this seems like a pretty good idea. Makes it pretty clear soon as you turn it on, this is a google phone

Yeah, I guess it is good that it lets me know I've accidentally picked up a terrible phone and to put it down before I get some kind of disease from the poors who have touched it.

This says more about how generic your current phone is than it does about the phone you accidentally picked up ..

EG the owner of said phone would be annoyed he got accidentally downgraded to 2012 features.

Vodafone tipped me over the breaking point yesterday, left work, went to Spark and picked up an Xperia Z3.

Thoughts so far, it is a rectangle. Also the speakers on it are pretty great. I mean, to me it feels like a phone from the future but I guess any phone these days does, considering I was using TouchWiz for so long. Battery seems pretty good as well, or my S3 was just shit, it's hard to tell.

the z3 and z3c have ridiculous on screen time, 10+ hours IIRC

my mates z3 goes almost 3 days with average use

Is on screen time all that it says? I'm not familiar with android but if it is then it's the same as usage on iOS ie the screen is on and phone is being used.

If that is correct then 10 hours is hardly good I would have thought. My ip6 does 9 hours usage and 46 to 48 hours standby.

Whatever it is, it's fucking impressive. It feels like the old days again. My old phone I would constantly have plugged in to my work computer charging because with my use it would drop to nothing almost twice through a workday.

Yesterday with super extensive usage it only got down to 60% by the time I went to bed at 12am. And even then it said the phone had 2 days of battery left, or 4 days if I turned Stamina mode on (which I think just turns off wifi and shit when the phone is in sleep mode).

Other than that, this phone is amazing. It's so fast with everything, the camera's okay I guess - but I've only been using it on a flat surface to play with dinosaurs with the augmented reality app haha. Looking forward to finding some fish in clear water so I can take photos then!

The only con I have for it, is that the back of the phone is too fucking smooth. I'm talking even a slight incline on a wooden table it will slide away type smooth. It's pretty to look at but it's way too fucking smooth, it's easily solved with a case, though.

10 hours of the screen on 100% and the phone doing stuff
I doubt your 9 hours is actually 100% screen on time
