Voters appear to be deserting the Labour Party for the Greens as Phil Goff's election chances look increasingly hopeless.

The Greens have leapt to 11 per cent in today's Fairfax Media-Research International Poll – and their rise has come at the expense of Labour, which has slumped to 25.7 per cent.

These poll results are self-fufilling feedback loops - Labour setting themselves up by looking like idiots may have started it, but now that they're polling bad, each new poll released will feedback to the people taking the next poll to make them less likely to tick Labour - in the poll - but does not necessarily reflect the actual result of the election.

Also if the Greens managed to beat Labour on the actual day, I will LOL so incredibly hard to the point I may risk an aneurysm.

The other big shift in today's poll is a drop in support for ACT, which sits at 1.1 per cent

Can you really call a movement well inside the margin of error a 'big shift'?

I don’t think complex explanations are necessary.

People are social animals. Labour is uncool. Associating with them is uncool. There is a psychological barrier to most people. Labour is like that uncool kid in school who smells like shit.

National is the flash new thing. John Key is a pretty cool guy eh goes on Letterman and doesn’t afraid of anything.

National has much better PR people. Labour should stop whinning and hire Crosby-Textor, cuz whatever they’re doing – it’s working.

Basically politics is about winning. National is winning. So people like them. I’ve learned from personal experience that people don’t like losers. They like winners.

I think the polls are positive feedback loops because whenever a bad poll comes out LABOUR DOES SOMETHING RETARDED IN RESPONSE.

People don't support parties that do retarded things.

Sadly, still more than likely to close up closer to the election but I love how they're tanking it for this long.
