I know highly intelligent people lacking all common sense, and intellectual dolts who are very 'smart' about life. There's always a strong possibility that an intelligent woman who elects to pair up with a man lacking in brain-power is just daft...or perhaps even in love, despite their disparate minds. You don't have to be clever to be sensible, or dumb to be silly.

Dost thou think gender war is the way to make for happy troll, Haydos? Let us stick to issues, as opposed to making inflammatory statements, ja - seeing as I'm really disinterested in defending my gender.

Nicky Coles was on radio stating that she thought the success of rowing meant they deserved more fans and funding, bemoaned the fact that she couldn't compete well at the last olympics because she was only semi-professional and ultimately suggested that perhaps they should reduce the number of people going to the olympics to give a better chance to those in medal hopes with more money being given to them.

The Twins are very similar with their interviews.

The only one that remains personable is Rob Waddell.

Personally Mahe Drysdale pisses me off due to his comments around the time Waddell was challenging him for the spot in the boat, stating that he should just be given the spot so he can be best prepared for it rather than have to prove himself - any other sport in the world? You have to prove yourself.

Rat-brain robot - hmm....

"The brain cells have been taught how to control the robot's movements so it can steer round obstacles and the next step, say its creators, is to get it to recognise its surroundings."

Ask for more money.

p.s. Nice work

edit: Have you been sick in the past 12months? Do you just *flex to the east* and work through it?

Hungarian weightlifter dislocates his elbow at the Beijing olympics. Cringe-inducing.

The clean and jerk has always seemed fucking dangerous to me...I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often (then again maybe it does happen a lot among amateurs and you just don't see it much at the olympics because the guys all know what they're doing).

weekend hang overs and a tickle in my throat is the worst i've had. i think it's the result of an immune system built up over three years of biking to work come hail or shine. getting married made me get a car and i've not had a cold since

i'm not asking for more money.

surely it's not all that uncommon for people to not have sick days?

I can recall 1 and a half sick days in the 4 years I've been at my current job.

I've also had quite a bit less than 3 weeks/year AL. Oh and worked a stack of public holidays, thus accruing the Alternate Holidays, all of which I *have* taken. I don't much like taking holidays - just means more work to do when I get back :/

I was watching that when it happened and the commentators were objecting strongly to the slow-motion replays. I didn't blame them

My brother has had the same job for 10 years, I think he's only ever taken time off for work/sport related injuries. Dad's much the same. My mother and Stepfather run a small buisiness 7days/week, they pretty much can't have sick days. My cousin is a funny one, not having a sick day is like a big competition for him haha! and lastly while I'm typing at a million miles an hour, a close mate of mine who I'm not so close with anymore worked at the same place for 4-5years and never had a sick day.

Then there's me. I've had enough sick days for all the people mentioned above.

Getting married can lead to other things too (except in Haydos' case) and then you'll start to know what it means to be sick.

What we talking here? You talking about the average NZGames male marrying the local town whore and getting all those funky rashes over their body like you did? Thank you for the exception.

My grandmother once told me that my grandfather never had one sick day in his entire career, and she met him when he was a student. He worked from his early 20s until his late 70s, incuding his post-retirement board-sitting and chairing, and political activism. Bloody amazing, if you ask me

Well, that was in the day where a company showed loyalty to their staff and also a different era than today.

Today, you're worked over by companies, especially if you hold a high stress job and those sick days are there to be used in order to ensure mental health, if nothing else.

I think I've taken three sick days in the past four or so years, but have no issues when the guys are taking time off, they do a hard as fuck job, they need it.

But was he closely involved in raising the offspring - and did those said offspring socialise in close proximity to heaps of others in daycare?

There is a close corelation here between the staff that take sick days, and the staff with kids, and it doesn't seem to matter whether or not they were concieved in wedlock or not, or if their mother had excessive penicillin use.

These days most employers implore that sick people take sick leave, in order to stop disease spreading through the office. I don't think sick leave is a major indicator when evaluating a pay rise. Surely one's work effort whilst well would be a better gauge.

In theory, yes. It never happens that way though. At work = showing an effort. Not at work = slacking. Regardless of whether you're sick or not.
It's fucking disgusting sometimes.

My GF's old work used to basically make her feel guilty whenever she called in sick. "It's not a good look" "You've been taking a lot of time off lately" etc. She's fucking sick, what would you rather, have her off for one day, or have her come in, wear herself to pieces, then either need to take three off, or infect the office and have 10 people off for the rest of the week.
