After an absolute ass of a week, 17 years of living in Wellington will be at an end in 4 weeks with the confirmation at 4pm today that the sale of our home here and the purchase of our new home in New Plymouth have both been confirmed as unconditional.

Or, in other words, I'm moving home to be closer to my Mum and I'm a-ok with that

(the fact my wife and 3 boys are coming along is a bonus, for sure!).

/me cracks the bottle of Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA that arrived on his desk today.

Phantom: great, but, since I moved my email-domain to google, which now treats my default email address as 'business related', I can't use it for fun stuff like being my login on youtube etc. So, I'm kinda miffed at google for fucking that up, and making me have to use a second account for things that previously were ezpz handled by one. (mostly the youtube thing actually... but that's seriously annoying me, since I can't see any upside to the changes they made)

Started off as a GMG, Telstra shut down their analogue service, so there went the signal to the second TV (house has cable only, no aerials at all).

Rang them to ask about a second decoder - $150 to install & $15/month rental. WTF !

$80 second hand Freeview unit off trademe - $80 indoor (powered) aerial from Harveys. Done & it worked first time.!

And it keeps the RF slot free so the old girl can still watch a TCL/Sky channel as well if she wants.

As in rabbit ears with a powered gain control? I seem to find the VHF channels are fairly weak with those.
