Kiwiblog commenters make me sad. Hate leads to the dark side.
The ChCh Central result is interesting. Tim Barnett had a loyal folllowing because he was a very good electorate MP. But I do wonder how the earthquake changed the demographics of the electorate.

December 10th, 2011 at 6:11 pm Just saw One News and the contrasts regarding Christchurch Central. Burns was surrounded by an ignorant, scruffily dressed, working class rabble of feral apparitions; Nicky Wagner was surrounded by rich, successful, intelligent white people. How lovely the ‘true’ divide between the parties is being shown – we are born to rule (and rightly so!) and our membership and makeup clearly show that. The Labour people are troglodytes as was clearly shown. We won and the Labour people will ‘like it’ as we shove it up their backsides! ha ha (suck on that and find it tasty Labourites!) Burns will end up on his knees cleaning toilets at a house owned by a National party member, doffing his cap to his master (whilst being, quite rightly, spat on by said master). And thus are all men created equal |

So basically National gained no further support this election, support for the far right (NZ context) is nearly nil and support for the far left grew considerably.
Next election should be interesting.

There'll be recounts in Waitakere and Chch Central, those margins are too small.
