Cynos, have you noticed how the union fucks have never denied the proposal by PoA to fix their rosters one month ahead of time? What does that tell you?

Imo it would have been useful if they actually stated what they pay in wages. I assume it's still $27 per hour plus overtime. Also if they're going to include "a range of allowances, benefits and shift payments", they could have been more specific on what this includes.

On the other hand the consultations seems to have occurred. What's next? Try to find roles for disestablished positions perhaps. This should not take too long. After that these folk can stay at home for as long as they like.

regardless of the striking workers being disingenuous about their motivations, if the trend that started in america in the late nineties of capital circumventing employee protection laws by making everyone a contractor is coming to New Zealand then IMO that's genuinely something worth being concerned about

It's pretty much gone beyond anyone trying to achieve a mutually beneficial situation, and is now down to how badly can they damage each other's case in the court of public opinion. Unfortunately for the unions, the PoA management has better media contacts.

There's no indication of this; in fact there's overwhelming indication of this not happening.

The US is profoundly different to NZ is many ways. National is so far to the left of the political spectrum when measured against the two major factions that play politics in the US that there is no word in the American lexicon to describe the political position that National represents.

If we had a democrat government here I'd be a happy camper.
