I bet there are probably a couple of amusing posts in the NZGame Tech forum of people showing off their brand new Pentium 2 200s (now with MMX technology!!!) and Voodoo2 SLI setup

Oh sure, I have enough money in the bank to purchase a gf4, I just can't justify spending $500 odd dollars on a card I don't really need. I'm just not that much of a geek

Never said you do. Just that my card at the moment does a perfectly good job of rendering the games I have. No point in laying down bucks just for the sake of a few extra fps.

My list of video card combos over the years:

Cirrus Logic CT5429
S3 ViRGE
S3 ViRGE + 3dfx Voodoo Graphics
S3 ViRGE + 3dfx VoodooČ SLI
Nvidia Riva TNT + 3dfx VoodooČ SLI
Nvidia Riva TNT
Nvidia Geforce 2 MX

Costliest video card(s) would have been the twin Voodoo2s, by far.

I remember when my friend bought his Geforce 256... he installed it in his PII-450, then booted up Quake2 (aka 'the orange game'). I remember us just sitting there with our mouths hanging open when it finally spat out the end result: 75fps at 1600x1200

Reminds me of when I first got my Voodoo back in '97 or '98... GLQuake - 40fps at 640x480 on the venerable ol' P166!!! And best of all, the textures didn't go all pixelly when you walked up to the walls
