I've only watched a bit of survivorman but it seemed like 'im all alone so ill just sit around like a sad sack and scrape by'. As opposed to bear "the safe way to get downstream is blabla but i'm in a hurry" *hurls log into white water and jumps on*

Survivorman may be more 'authentic' but bear is far more entertaining.

I've gotta disagree. I'm finding Les Stroud far more compelling than Bear, probably because of the realism. He generally spends the first few nights in one place, just "surviving", and then spends another few trying to make it back to civilisation. If he makes a bad call, there's no going back and doing the right thing for the camers, he has to live with the decision and the consequences. Survivorman is about surviving, and Man vs Wild is about the stunts.

I've only just discovered Survivorman, but there's no way I'll be watching any more Bear.

Gotta say it's a real pity Les Stroud retired from Survivorman due to the physical/mental toll it was taking on his body with all the filming n having to survive.

So i'm gonna savour those 3 seasons he made, really enjoying the show.

I had watched a few episodes of Man vs Wild, it's a pity the show's a bit of a stitch up because it totally destroys any enjoyment i used to get from watching it. Kinda like watching Wrestling now.

I thought Russel Davies backpedalled on that afterwards?

In the episode "Last of the Time Lords", the immortal time traveller Captain Jack Harkness expresses concern about how he might look if he lives "for a million years", because although he can't die, he is still aging, albeit slowly. He tells the Doctor and Martha Jones that it's a matter of vanity, because he "used to be a poster boy when [he] was a kid in the Boeshane Peninsula", as "the first one ever to be signed up for the Time Agency," earning him the name "the Face of Boe". This astonishes Martha and the skeptical Doctor.

Writer Russell T Davies, in the episode's commentary, called the implication of this scene "a theory" as to the Face of Boe's origins, prompting Executive Producer Julie Gardner to urge him to "stop back-pedalling" about the two characters being the same. Davies also said that after writing the scene he inserted a line in the ADR recording for "Gridlock" in which the Face of Boe calls the Doctor "old friend".[1]

Gardner also stated outright at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con that the Face of Boe was Jack Harkness. Similarly, Torchwood Declassified for Torchwood Series 2 has John Barrowman, David Tennant, and Russell T Davies explicitly stating that the Face of Boe is Jack Harkness.
[edit] Spoiler tags added for those that haven't seen season two of Torchwood. [/edit]

Ahh, that explains that.
Basically, over the last few years, the Aussie soap "Neighbours" has descended in to what some may term "soft core porn".
This is just the latest instance of them "pushing the boundaries" of early evening T.V.
