I reckon there is way too much hype about the NZ team and Aussie just want to pretend that they are the underdogs so that they can relieve some of the pressure of expectation. I predict a Winning Margin spread by Aussie of about 19-25 points. Probably ahead at half time by about 13-18 points.

Probably an Aussie/England Final.

Awesome, picked half and full time winning margin spreads like a dirty nose but still a bitter pill to swallow seeing the Kiwi's go down like that. That haka was seriously the best NZ Haka I've ever seen in my life, NEVER seen passion like that before, put the All Blacks to shame.

Yeah that was a mean haka eh. Why isn't this thread in Open D? Hate League being categorised in with teh Yawnion.

All in all I thought Benji looked good. Disappointed with Fein's effort but I know he's better than that performance so I'm comfortable with him getting another go. I thought he would be better off in the halves replacing the forever useless Leuluai. Get Isaac Luke into that team stat. I usually can handle Gould's shit as he's usually on the money, but his pro aussie tugfest really got up my nose last night. He's not helping the global viewpoint associated with the World Cup.

I think Fein needs to bomb more, he seems to think the grubber is the way to go if we're just over half way but I bomb is always the best option at that range about 5 - 10 out from the try line, might get a lucky bounce, might get a other team knock on, who knows, pull the poker machine rugby league handle and see what happens. Marshall was awesome, what vision, set up the first try and the one that was disallowed.

I have Folau top Aussie Try Scorer and Marshall top NZ Try Scorer. 2 for Folau so far, so looking good. He's more likely to rake up more tries than the wings against weaker teams too imo (closer to the centre)

Loved the NZ - Eng game tonight.

10 minutes in I was ready to pack it in and go to bed, damn glad I didn't. Ref seemed a bit hit and miss calling the forward passes though, for both sides.

yeh, also I thought archer would be all over the lying all over the player after held was called, mmaaann those english guys were glacial, but shit did they have some line speed in the first 30mins, I was sure the kiwi's were rooted but when they picked up that try at the end of the first half I was sure they could bring it back, hopefully the can improve from next week.

The format of this is strange.

3 pools, with Pool A having Aus, NZ, Eng & PNG. Top 3 go through.
The other 2 pools have 3 teams, and the winner of each play each other to get the 4th team to the semis.

Seems a bit odd, that the bottom 6 teams, don't even get to play the top teams, and the winner gets shoved into the deep end.

Heh I think it's pretty much accepting of three factors..

a) No minnow team can beat aussie
b) The need to have NZ, Aussie and England playing each other as much as possible to make some coin
c) They want some balanced games in the other pools

I feel sorry for Papua New Guinea

England are pretty shit really. How many Super League clubs do they have? How many professional League clubs do we have? ...

Most of our players are playing in the NRL, so technically we have about 16.

When is the Manly vs Leeds(?) game?

Well no technically NZ does not have 16 clubs, that's stretching 'technically' pretty far. 80% of English clubs have English players in them, what % of NZ'ers are in NRL clubs? Definitely less than 30% on average I'd say. They should be better no excuse really, it's not like they've just started playing. You could forgive America for sucking at rugby for instance from their lack of experience but England has played league a long, long time.

I agree with you completely man.. just saying.

Sometimes I get the feeling that there are two sets of rules and interpretations of rules between the northern and southern hemisphere. Which could be attributing to slightly different style of play between the two.

If I were asked to sum up the difference between Australasian and UK league in one line, I'd say the UK teams just aren't as creative or imaginative. Theres no flair and the same could be said about their Union team imo.

But yes, I agree, there seem to be two skill levels, NRL (mostly the aussie players) then UKSL.

Edited for speling worng

Yeah there is and Peacock is going on about it here:

Not sure I buy it myself. They just seemed like a pretty shit team who dropped too much ball and didn't cover up. Kind of like the Kiwis atm, just worse.

I'd love to know how much the Kiwi's were paying for a win at the TAB.

Much respect to the Kiwis, finally turning it up when it mattered.

Holy shit. How'd that happen The Aussies choked! Onya Kiwis!
I know I shot them down.. but they finally come through and I was so stoked last night.
Bennett was hardcore happy as well.. awesome to see. Kudos to him and Kearney and Rubes on the sidelines Cracked up at him running around towards the end. He would have been stoked as well.

GFG.

On par with the All Blacks now in terms of World Cups and arguably you could say more impressively due to the calibre of the final opposition!

WORLD CHAMPION KIWIS!!
