This is a coal fire in the freaking Titanic. It would be more than the volume of water needed, but pressure as well to overwhelm the exploding stream pushing the water away. And then somewhere for all that water and steam to go.

For curiosity's sake I was was watching the robotic recycling truck collecting the recycling down our street from behind a curtain at home. The driver gets out of his truck at my neighbours and proceeds to rummage through their bin. Presumably looking for non-recyclables but then he starts reading some of the material.
I don't think he appreciated me calling him out as he sheepishly looked around not knowing where the 'Oi' came from and when he came to do mine his swearing and cursing made it clear he wasn't happy when his machine dropped my full bin spilling crap everywhere.

Wow, the guy's reading a magazine that someone threw out. Give him a break. I think it's stranger that you're standing behind a curtain watching him.
Who even knows what happens to that stuff when it gets back to the depot.

I just saw a UFO.
It was about 9:30pm, looking outside from the deck almost directly north and I spotted what I thought was a satellite. It was like a bright star, but moving slowing across the sky. It's going slow so I figure maybe it's the ISS. I point it out to the flatmates and as we watch it slows down and appears to change direction... and then it stops moving and slowly fades away. I'm not saying it's aliens but...

How bad was the sunburn after sleeping in direct sunlight? The mere suggestion of it terrifies me.

What is a healthy "free space" percentage for optimum performance?
Is there such a thing, just for a usual SATA drive, nothing RAID or SSD here.

Free disk space can impact performance:
- if you need it for swap memory/temporary files but it doesn't exist, or - you've got very little free space, your current data is fragmented, and you're trying to write a lot but your hard drive heads have to keep jumping to a new sector, and - a combination of the above (eg. massive masty session, too many tabs and popups, saving too many vids for next time) I think Windows keeps a permanent swap file on disk, so your free space already includes space used by swap, and Linux has a dedicated partition for swap, but I would suggest having at least 1GB free at all times, or ideally as much space as you do RAM. If you're at all concerned about performance, but still don't have even a small SSD, the solution is staring you in the face.

My flatmate is a property manager. Apparently almost all of her clients have scheduled court appearances to collect unpaid rent.
I'm just imagining owners mortgaged up to their eyeballs depending on rental income to service the mortgages (and to pay the property agency.)

If anything, the current state of the art AI is in cars that read street signs. Unless all we are doing is training the robots to be better at finding signs. |

Isn't that what captcha got into ages ago.
It got people to help insert text from books that the computer couldn't distinguish. That was when there were 2 images. One was the correct image to guess, and the other was the image google didn't know. So the same could be used here, although you would still need an image to validate. |
