HENCE WHY FOREVER ALONE

This all-in-one board OMG:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...rd/E35M1M_PRO/ I got the Intel D525MW first, and it was aight for a passive silent computer. Youtube wasn't the best, and 3D support was shit house. Thought I'd indulge and get the Asus/AMD equivalent... it's fantastic! The Intel has become my work Linux server (because its graphics are shit but it has 4GB RAM). This Asus one has USB 3.0, SATA II, HDMI, VGA, DVI, etc. I can run dual monitors in absolute silence and play Quake III Arena on one while YouTube plays on the other. The Intel board barely supported the most basic 3D, but this ASUS one is DirectX 11 compliant with an integrated Radeon... Windows 7 runs like a charm, USB 3 is fast as. 8 GB of RAM is the most I've ever had. Running Core Temp and watching my processor slow down when nothing's happening. 69 degrees max with no fan and full load. As exciting as a defrag lol It actually shipped with a fan if you want to run one, but I'm opting not to. Fans need to be made a thing of the past, IMHO. Slow down~

- Selling a house in the current market OMG. So much interest and it's only been listed for 46 hours. - The change in weather from what was forecasted earlier in the week. So much for the worst easter ever :> Also 'grats GM. What's next, 3D printers and rapid prototyped foetuses? |

This oils my gears because it's about time. It also grinds my gears because it happens so rarely as to be news-worthy.

This Easter
Working on my car, taking a foreign buddy around a bunch of awesome Hawke's Bay cellar doors, hanging out with family, and NOT eating a single piece of chocolate or Easter-related stuff the entire time is good.

Ben Dormer and his idea to give away movie seats to people who want them OMG today.
Managed to fit three and a couple of ends into the car, so the man cave continues to evolve. (He put me down for two, but I managed to wangle another from the pile of spares they had - in case anyone bleats about them running out!) Last edited by StN : 10th April 2012 at 16:22. |

I love the long weekend though, and as I've not had a lot of R&R in the past year I opted to make full use of Easter. One of my friends from work is a Spaniard who doesn't know NZ wines at all and a wine buff, so I invited him up to the bay to get squiffy with my step-father, who is mega-wine-buff-from-hell, and also great company. I chauffeured them around the cellar doors while they talked sagely about vino, sampling just the odd really primo wines myself, and stocking up for the year. I now have a couple of cases of mixed wines in my coal cupboard, a fresh oil filter, and my step-father has a new wine-buddy. I also got to let my rabbit run loose in their house, which has HUGE open spaces. Watching their cat follow him around, trying to keep track of him while he explored, was lots of fun.

A month ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, with some numbers that I didn't really understand, but the doctor said was bad - blood-glucose of 15.8 mmol/L ('normal' is 3-6) and 95 mmol/mol of HbA1c (Glycated haemoglobin, 'normal' is around 40).
Today I got the results of a massive change in diet(1) and an increase in daily exercise(2) - blood-glucose down to 6.0, and HbA1c at 75. Weight loss of around 3-4 kilos. Gears oiled. 1 - Big reduction in sugar intake and cutting out fried / takeaway foods, more fruit/veg 2 - Walking up and down hills, instead of a flat path

I'm surprised you waited that long to beat off, tbh. I suppose in your advanced years it takes a few moments to get it up!

Gear oil: 15 film-packs of Polaroid 600 film arrived this afternoon from http://www.theimpossibleproject.com
Pricey? Yeah, but going to be quite choosey about the shots I take and I'm not going to just rattle through it. Experimental Polaroid film FTW
