The film is good, the british TV Series it is based on is better. Worth tracking down and watching. I was amazed at how well the film condensed the major plot elements from the series while also americanising it. Deftly done.

I watched that From Paris with Love. Jesus Christ, what happened to Travolta? He's fucking terrible. Pelham 123 was fucking shocking also; despite Denzel's input.

edit: thinking back I don't even know why I posted that. Grease and Saturday Night Fever were awesome, what else? He's just terrible.

I just watched Tony (2009), and I'm not quite sure what I thought of it. It's well shot, edited and casted, but it's lacking in story. But that might be the purpose of the film, as an IMDb commenter said "the banality of evil".

It's worth a watch.

The fourth kind.. interesting enough. I like Milla Jovovich, but the woman who was supposedly the real doctor she was portraying wasn't very convincing.

Ninja Assassin.
Good:

Lots of Blood (clearly fake)
Awesome violence
Fight scenes where the camera isnt fucking shaking
They have gone with the 'ninja are supernatural creatures' thing.

Bad:

Everything in between just feels like punctuation to the fight scenes.
Everyone speaks english

But that's the POINT of these movies - the plot is only a feeble excuse to take names and kick arse.

Just finished watching Un prophète (2009) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235166/

Plot: A young Arab man is sent to a French prison where he becomes a mafia kingpin.

It was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year category this year, won the BAFTA for the same category. It won a shit load of other awards too. I imagine a few peeps here would really enjoy it.

Check it out

Bloodsport was a 10/10 for me when I first watched it (and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th time) but I watched it about a year ago and it was bad. Comedy bad, but still bad. Went to a 5/10 for me, but still ranks high on the re-watchability scale.

You know it was all made up right? Like, not even loosely based on anything.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but I stumbled across the move Push the other day and really enjoyed it. Sort of sci-fi, supernatural powers-y, set in Hong Kong. A little cheesy but quite different than anything else I've watched in ages and thought it was awesome.

Dakota Fanning's acting is great, as always

Shrink with kevin spacey.
Wasn't sure what to expect but it's hard to go wrong with spacey.
My expectations were surpassed and it turned out to be a highly enjoyable film.

John Pilgers "war on democracy". his mannerisms and speaking style bug me (imagine a really bad David Attenborough caricature) and it often feels like he fails to notice (or just plain ignores) the shortcomings of the people he idealizes, but in all i found it to be enlightening and entertaining enough to overlook the negatives. The highlight for me would have been his provoking of the ex- CIA flagwaver and rabid rightwing nutsack Duane Clarridge to the point where he openly says america has done and will do anything anywhere in the world to protect its own interests regardless of who they have kill or supplant, too bad if you don't like it.

Shutter Island wasn't that bad but it was a let down. The ending was good & not too predictable, but the body of the move was just a slow building set up for the final scene.

6.75/10

Yep, I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps if they left out the interview scenes with the "real" doctor, it could have had more of a real "feel" to it hence making it more enjoyable. But every time I saw her I cringed at how bad her acting was..

The Box: Went in not expecting much, good job too, cause that's exactly what it delivered.

I liked the premise of the moral dilema the movie proposes, however what eventuated went from bewildering, (not in a good way), to just outright terrible plot... twisting? I dunno can't think of the word to describe the complete shambles that I gave up 115 minutes of my life to.

Look honestly, Battlefield Earths plot line made more sense. Need I say more?

For some reason I watched Paul Blart: Mall Cop last night, and can't believe how similar it is to Observe and Report.. In any case, both sucked.

Beautifully shot little arthouse movie by Jim Jarmusch. I would imagine photographers enjoying the meticulous attention to framing.

It still confuses me to death. Apparently the book is much better for the story and what really happens.

Still a great flick, have seen many times.
