Having spoken with a guy down south earlier on he just called me back to say thank you for the fantastic service - he wanted to take the time to say that he thought I was doing a great job - nothing more, nothing less.

Wish there were more people like that around.

I love that shit. I've had a customer respond to my email asking me to pass the ticket over to my manager, then proceeding to say really lovely things about how I rock and saying they should be giving me more money, holidays, etc. That kind of feedback is a definitely gear-oiler.

driving along looking at the lights along the railroad and i realise there's a train coming towards me as the track lights facing me are red, both sides of the sidings. approaching this intersection
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=-...42857142857139

(i'd be turning right, over the roundabout then onto the tracks)

and the train hasn't come yet, and there's a car in front of me. knowing there is only enough room for the car in front of me to sit between the barriers should they drop and the roundabout, i drop the truck's speed back early so i don't end up entering the roundabout too soon. sure enough the bells start ringing, lights flashing and the barriers go down doing exactly as i predicted.

the oil? being given an enthusiastic thumbs up from a guy that would have otherwise been blocked off if i had entered onto the roundabout.

google road mapping errors aside ...

Yeah, awesome use of Street View but I still don't get the situation he's trying to explain. Maybe I'm just dumb
10 merit points anyway.

Speaking of Street View use, the Herald made somewhat odd use of Street View in this article - http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=10546268

I can't wait til they use GSV for every news item. Man Stabbed To Death In Auckland CBD. See Where It Happened With Google Street View

perhaps it should have read "driving along a road running parallel to a train track, i'm looking at the track lights along the way and i realise there's a train coming towards me because the track lights facing me are red, both sides of the sidings."

in a nutshell, i predict a train is coming towards me up a track parallel to the road i'm on. eventually i'll need to cross this track. others may speed up to try and beat the train to the crossing. because of this prediction i save myself from entering and blocking an intersection before the crossing signals cut the traffic off. thumbs up in appreciation given from a passing motorist made me day.

I often wondered (when switched to hardcore Hannibal mode) if the dunny air dryer business was in fact a psych test the got wildly out of hand. Whenever you visit a public washroom, there is an expectatuion that there will be a blower - but they never bloody work This doesn't stop dunny designers plopping one in there just the same. Almost as if some smarmy prick 40 years ago thought "Hmm, I wonder if I can convince people they need this 3rd party service provided, that does nothing, but will become a defacto standard?" all the while becoming rich of a patent for a machine that results in you wiping your hands on your strides. Quite possibly a consipiracy involving drycleaners too.

Then Dyson comes along and makes one that actually works.

as with most things apparently not working, youre just not doing it right. you should not just present freshly washed and wetted hands to the dryer - it will do fuck all. you must drip dry the majority of the water in the sink, and then rub your hands when in the dryer. youll be bone dry.

WOMG: JB HiFi opening in the BNZ Centre, Wellington. Rocking by the store today, it looks like it's good to open this weekend or Monday - stocking the shelves, door-alarm-things in-place, etc.

More for somewhere close by for getting games than anything else. If I'm going to buy music I'd still rather hike over to RG.

So close by it may even tempt sarge to become a gamer again!
