I wouldn't be upset if people without a chance of leaving jail are excluded.

Pandora's box has been opened after the Ihumatao protest has gained some sort of traction.
No high site for Northland - please set up multiple towers on low ground Aussies are gonna love this one - Maori claiming land in Sydney I tumanako that nuinga stop littering rerenga korero with kupu poriro that I need to whakataki for manamatanga. Congratulations if you made it this far before ignoring me and everything I have to say.

There has to be some Shangri La, Nirvana of IT projects out there somewhere.
Instead of the job mostly being juggling varying degrees of politics and incompetencies. Fucking CEOs making the calls on data structure cause of the opinion of a pet employee, meaning half the system has to juggle around a meaningless requirement. It doesn't matter the sector. There's always some idiot sucking up your time because they keep editing CSV exports in Excel, stripping leading zeros and then bitching the export format is wrong. Does it exist? A place where your work is largely technical, rather than coaxing people towards final decisions? Holding them as they rage and cry that they can't have everything they want? /rant

Yeah my tech Nirvana is a checkbox: this personal info you are collecting, is it accessible by anyone with a web browser? Y/N

Is the data supposed to be accessible by some people with a web browser at some point? Then I reckon 50/50 chance all user data gets publicly exposed sometime during development. I think that guess is as good as any.

So suicides are at their highest ever in absolute terms and rising dramatically relative to the total population.
Good times to be alive in NZ. Except for a growing number.

On the upside though - I'm pretty impressed by the speed at which the breach was communicated. We still don't have anything similar to Australia’s Mandatory Data Breach Notification laws though. That'd be the logical next step.

Indonesia to send contaminated recycling back to NZ
This is schadenfreude for me. Although, technically it's my problem too, but still. NZ's "we're too small" waste manageable is ridiculous. Waste management costs how much it costs, it's not something we can decide is too expensive.

Soviets: Your artillery strike will not go unanswered!
Finns: Uuh, all our artillery has been pulled back, and we actually triangulated the attack to have come from your side. Soviets: It's war then!
