Finally saw Looper - meh, 6/10 strictly average, not sure what everyone was raving about to be honest. Was sitting there thinking, "I should be watching 12 Monkeys instead...".

Love Daniel Craig as Bond, but I feel like in Skyfall, there was some sort of joke that everyone else in the theatre got, except me.
I wasn't really a fan of the computer hacking aspect of the movie. To me that was all a little bit bullshit, including the cliched need to visualise the hacking with that geometric liney shapey thing. I mean, computer hacking is a very real thing going on from the sounds of some shit happening around the world at the moment, but just wish they didn't have to go so overboard with it... I quite liked Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace and their lack of corniness and being a bit more gritty and serious, but Skyfall seemed bring a lot of that cornyside back. Not that I dislike it as such, but I just liked the previous two movies for being a bit more gritty and serious. I also liked the Quantum storyline, but I guess they couldn't keep going on with that. SKyfall, better than Quantum, not as good as Casino Royale.

Yes Wazza, I did post The Dark Knight Rises earlier on in the thread, but that's not what Caesar quoted. He quoted The Dark Knight Returns which was the movie in my more recent post. The fact he says that "fuck it was long" tells me the he is confused and is not actually referring to The Dark Knight Returns since it is only 1hr 16minutes long.
TLDR: The Dark Knight Rises (recent live action movie) should not be confused with The Dark Knight Returns (recent DC animated movie) |

Yeah I got those 2 muddled up, I forgot about the Animated version...
So yeah I was referring to Rises, not Returns. |

End of watch definitely a good movie, highly recommend.
Also watched Killer Joe last night, different than what I expected but man it ended well. Worth the watch. Also for fans of horror/thriller kind of movies watch Sinister, was pleasantly surprised. |

I watched Sinister the other night and thought it was absolute garbage. Maybe if you don't watch any trailers or anything going into it, it might be ok, but since I found out who was behind it, I kinda expected a lot more from it.

I actually watched 1-4 to bring myself back up to speed (and because Milla) before I saw 5, and it is so seriously lacking in 'things that happen' compared to any of the previous movies. Sure the series-long story has gotten completely ridiculous at this point, but after so much got crammed into 4, 5 basically wussed out big time with a whole "oh yeah this is all a simulation so, you know, who cares". Assuming there'll be a 6, 5 could have been skipped entirely, since all it adds is "Alice goes from the boat at the end of 4, and is now at the White House with everyone else that's not a zombie", which didn't need an extended trip through Russia to get there. Even if they'd had the same set pieces, but set them in the actual cities (Moscow, Tokyo etc) and limit the facility to just the waking up/suburban scene, that would have felt less lazy.

Went to see Argo last night. Found it a pretty interesting watch.
Was surprised to see that it wasn't about an angry guy yelling at people to get the RL and defend the flag. Still found it distracting for the fact that Don McGlashan from the Mutton Birds seemed to feature prominently. |

I just watched the Perks of Being a Wallflower. I don't want to go into it too much but if you're a fan of the book I recommend the movie. It's adapted and directed by the same guy that wrote the book, and for my money was one of the best book-to-movie adaptions I've seen.
If you didn't like the book, you ain't gonna fine anything to like here. If you liked the book, this is totally worth seeing.
