I've raided the watermelon farm for zee food, hopefully that was ok. Whereabouts are all the sheep, please? I promise not to harm them, just to remove their precious precious fleeces......

Actually, this is my first time playing "vanilla" in awhile and I'm guessing that coloured wool is still really the only way to go?

There's a public farm in the spawn area that spawns sheep, cows and pigs. I believe the chocos have a huge coloured sheep farm up in the NZG building area.

Thanks, bout time we get our a into g with this rail- been so busy. We're thinking it could be the starting area for more buildings? Any suggestions for buildings for yourself, group or us to build? The mob trap will probably be somewhere further down the rail track...

We might explore further down, straight from the windmill and see what is in the sea or if there is any land?

We'll scout the area and note some co-ordinates for the mob trap... those with the internal expertise and time can contribute into making the mob trap.

Chocofish drew a rough sketch awhile back on nz games of the possible external mob trap design...

I wasn't supposed to build there, I didn't realise how close it was to we're the town bridge should be. Oh well I will have to try and incorporate now.

Will definitely be on tonight, but not tomorrow night as I've got a board-gaming session.

My current rambling thoughts on the trap:
Probably the best thing we can do with the trap at the moment is get boatloads of gravel in order to get rid of the water directly under the trap location. Could also use sand, but sand is useful for glass and sandstone, so better to use gravel

I've started making a "rocky island" style base around the trap to give it the look of a sea-fortress, with the actual trap tower rising up from inside it. Could probably do with it being made wider, and if we do a "horseshoe bay" off to one side an enclosed beach with a couple of "palm trees" (I'm thinking Jungle-trees with carefully placed leaves) might even look kinda cool when contrasted to windswept rocky promontories.

Not going to go too hard-core on the decorative base for the moment; just going to get it down to sea-level, then start on an internal cylinder down to ground to get in-place for the trap base, that we can then fill with the gravel

Once we've got the actual trap tower(s) in-place we can start changing the surround from a simple circle to something more medieval-construction looking.

Those that have more familiarity with mob-trap construction: Care to weigh in with any recommendations?

Looked through the 1.4 update.. wow, now that's a helluva update!

HUGE list of changes.

bukkit is currently several versions into a dev 1.4 so a recommended build won't be far away hopefully.

Nice. Looking forward to it TBH - fix some of the lighting issues with the stairs etc looking manky among other things. Only thing I'm really not looking forward to is the scaling back of the XP from grinders.

Trap design: Are we still going to go for this? I've started "doing" stuff, but didn't really think about things in terms of relating it back to that.

Hey some input into which mob surrounding design you favour, would be great before we do too much? Crocos's fortress island or chocofish's mob tower city/garden?
I am keen to get the mob trap up and running by the end of the wknd.
Don't worry bout cobblestone rincey it's obtainable just lacking in time and I think the lag slowed down our cobblestone maker last nite which kinda suxed.
Too tired from work today hope make some in roads into Project Mob Tower in the coming days!

I have 10 or 12 double chests full of cobblestone if you really need it. It's just a matter of moving it from my tower.

Fences?

The current plan we're doing is fill the water with sand - we've got a rather efficient sand-gen right next to the trap, just bombing columns of sand down into the hole from the top + walls of something else (currently Nethrack) around it. We figure we can use the sand again for both Glass and Sandstone when we dig it out.
