I stay at home. That oils my gears, but mainly because I get paid a salary for it.

Telecommuting aside, I'd like to be a kept woman. Not to be idle though. I'm not interested in being bored. I'd like to be able to pack work in so I can go back to school, work on the house, and so forth. That would totally oil my gears

This story oils my gears, because it sounds like a sensible decision was made instead of the usual "oh my god, won't someone think of the children" hand wringing.

I totally agree. Good decision

That boy has learnt a good lesson.
Hopefully the mother did too, but she looks like she's barely older than the kid.

But those cheek scars look so awesome on a three year old with a mohawk. They almost match Mum's cheek piercing...

I know you're not supposed to judge people on their looks but seriously, what a rough looking pair. Poor dog.

watching their expressions when they actually found some was priceless.

More than just the looks are rough.

He is three and already has a animal cruelty record? Sounds (and looks tbh) like a fucking serial killer in the making to me.

we went to Raumati South beach...
initially it was meant to be a trip to the large playground and paddling pool there...
but as the wind died down, we moved to the beach

the forecast this morning was not that great,
but it did turn out to be an outstanding day.

btw, its surprising how much warmer the sea temperature is on the kapiti coast compared to wellington beaches...
the warmer waters are a lot more kid-friendly.

Yeah, up our way it's bloody amazing. When the tide's been out for an hour or so the water's like bathwater to about 50 m out. It's the shallow water and the island blocking deep sea currents, I reckon.

Tagging onto a charter my mate's dad had organised yesterday and coming home with: school shark/lemon fish, red pig fish, snapper, tarakihi, kahawai, parore, blue cod, rock cod, eel, maomao, gurnard, john dory, travally, and some crays from a pot and even a octopus. Got a kingfish too but was undersize.
All from around little barrier. Good day it was!

Yea i'd have expected you pretty much to only catch mullet or snapper on the east coast this time of the year! Seen a couple of bronze whalers out there as well.

We didn't We had enough to fill our chilly bins so gave what was left to the fishers at the wharf - including the rock cod.
