When it comes to NZ-made Feta I actually prefer cow milk. I don't think our ovine population produces the goods.

I haven't tried it with the berries though. Will have to give that a shot.

what oils my gears right now? the fact that even after 30 years of marriage, my dad gets back from working in aussie and drives through the night to get back up north to my mum as soon as possible. even the fact that they send each other rude txts oils my gears. how many people still have that spark, 30 years on? If i had one wish, it would be for that.

D'OH! I've been under the false impression that ovine covered goats and sheep. Sorry.

No NZ feta is arse compared to Greek Feta. NZ cow feta is better than NZ goat feta IMO. None of it is that great though. It's the diet of the animals. In NZ they live on grass and clover and in the Med' they live on pungent plants, such as Greek oregano. The resultant milk has a great taste. NZ milk is just nasty in comparison.

The same goes for the meat. Greek lamb and goat is yummy. I really don't like the taste of NZ lamb, and haven't tried our goat, because I'm pretty sure that won't be any better.

NZ also has strict regulations on cheese making. The milk has to be heated far higher than they do in other countries, to kill off bugs. It also kills off a lot of the flavour though.

Of course, NZ cheese is much safer, since millions of people die in Europe each year from cheese-poisoning.

NZ goat feta tastes and smells like someone has put a wet goat on your plate. Even crumbled through a salad it's obnoxious. I think a lot of people are convinced it's The Real Thing, simply because it's made of goats. NZ cow feta is much closer in taste to Mediterranean goat feta.
