Election 2023: Electoral Commission reviewing voting results after Herald investigation led to discovery of three wrong counts

At the Pukekohe Intermediate voting station in the Port Waikato electorate, 505 votes were incorrectly assigned to the Leighton Baker Party when they should have gone to National.

At the electorate's Karaka Pavilion at the NZ Bloodstock Centre, 15 votes went to the New Conservatives when the ballots were for National.

Electoral Commission admits further vote counting data errors

The Electoral Commission has admitted 15 voting places had data entry errors, and more than 700 votes were left off the final vote announced on Friday.

However, the commission says the now-completed final checks of party, electorate and special votes have not resulted in any major changes to the overall results or allocation of seats.

Parliament: Current caretaker role to continue until new government formed

The leaders of the main political parties have agreed to extend the current caretaker government arrangements - due to run out tomorrow - until a new government is formed.

In a statement, outgoing Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said he agreed with Christopher Luxon that the Governor General will be advised to extend the current arrangements.

Incoming prime minister Christopher Luxon says it is "highly unlikely" he will attend APEC in San Francisco this week.

I'm 100% certain that Luxon entered the room with all the grandiosity of an airline CEO, and left with the shrunken confidence of a three year politician being put in place by a 44 year politician.

As negotiations drag on, I get the feeling it might be a fight to see who is left holding the dead rat.

Green supporters might hate it, but Labour can always count on them to step up.

I think Winston's early play was to make it clear it wouldn't be him. Which leaves the fight between Luxon and Seymour. Luxon obviously has National behind him, but Seymour is the experienced politician.

I get the feeling we're going to see a whole lot of virtue signalling from this government. In lieu of substantive measures that would take the kind of political support that this government is lacking from the get-go.

Looks like the government have plans to deal with population decline: sex ed is out.

Refocus the curriculum on academic achievement and not ideology, including the removal and replacement of the gender, sexuality, and relationship-based education guidelines.

Dumb cunts drop out of school and have far too many kids, so I don't think school is where procreation is learned.
