It’s weird how Star Wars now being a steaming turd has made us nostalgic for the prequel trilogy, even though at the time we thought it was an incoherent mess.

in the previous episode we saw Vader pull a spaceship out of the sky and rip it to pieces with his mind.

Westworld S4E2 surprisingly great.
I recently re-watched S1/2 and gave up rewatching S3 after 1.5 episodes. The show isn't made for binge watching - you need that months long delay in S1 to find out Bernard is a host. S1 was incredible, S2 I skipped a few episodes. S3 didn't bother. S4 is showing promise. Hopefully won't get my heart broken again |

I thought Jensen Ackles was fucken good as Soldier Boy. He didn't seem to have a lot of dialog tho unfortunately. There's also rumors that Jeffery Dean Morgan might be getting cast in Season 4 which I think he'll fit right in perfectly. Think of his "The Comedian" character in The Watchmen movie and you could imagine he'll be right at home in The Boys. |

Have to say I'm really enjoying these movie length The Orville episodes.
They have got a lot more serious this season. Liking them more then the previous 3 Star Trek Shows, ST: Discovery (Diversity:P) , Picard and even New Worlds. But the latter has some good episodes at least. |

I watched the first season but the second season launched straight into cheesy tropes, technologically advanced, but socially stagnated, still grappling with the problems of the 1950s.

+1 for Severance. Slow paced but does well in exploring an interesting topic. Some good twists also. Looking forward to season 2.

Well played Westworld.
One of the final scenes with Delores walking in Times Square was mind blowing. How long had they planned it? According to this article from 2018, the original Times Square picture was taken 4 years before Westworld started filming? And the actress in the photo ended up being Man-in-Black / William's wife. |

The most hated man on the Internet
I'm normally on top of the web centric docos on Netflix pretty quickly, but I've come to this one a bit late.
Crikey - Hunter Moore seems like a devolved Tucker Max. And I have to say I'd consider what happened to drunk Destiny Benedict on the Skype call, whilst naïve for a self professed camgirl was pretty much exploitative. Although I think the Blenheim based cam girls here in NZ around the same time were similarly stumped that people could be recording the feed for upload elsewhere. |

It was a well made doco but I was surprised I'd never heard of the site in question. It looks like it went big then disappeared all within two years. It went up in 2010 and was all over in 2012. Was it big and I just missed it being an internet icon, or are they sort of making a mountain out of a mole hill with the doco?

Rings a bell... vaguely...? There were so many UGC porn sites popping up and getting banned. Impossible to keep track of them all. Can't say I ever heard of Hunter Moore.

It had some cool moments, but it seemed to negate or ignore earlier set ups.
They basically ignored what was going to be really interesting, which was the AI encountering the rest of humanity. Up until they escape the Westworld AI mostly only encounter a super-rich niche. We do get a window into the lives of the less privileged, by way of Felix and Sylvester, so we know this world exists, we know there are socio-economic pressures Maeve is able to leverage to compel behaviour. I think it's Sylvester who stresses they can't lose their job. But that goes nowhere. Maeve's recognition of Felix, Sizemore's sacrifice, that didn't seem to enter in the AI's worldview. We certainly don't see any response from the AI to learning anything new about humanity, discovering the sheer diversity of experience, values, culture that exists, that's constantly created fresh. I suppose we can take the symbolism of the nuke on France which was the trigger for the creation of Rehoboam, along with William's question about being hit by a nuke and having the electrons knocked out of your body. That by the time the Westworld AI emerged into the world, humanity was already dead, spiritually murdered by Rehoboam, the electrons knocked from humanity's body. The Westworld AI were only fucking the dead corpse of the species. But that has holes in it. I think we're expected to believe that Hale wiped out humanity without ever actually encountering it. She never felt the need to take the time to see what was there. No idea what she actually did with billions of people. The writers have basically just brushed away the existence of humanity, beyond what their execs are familiar with. Which was boring. The only kind of interesting thing was the idea of nested simulations, which alludes to the human mind.

You have to just get over the animation. Sometimes it looks spot-on, other times it's more like the uncanny canyon.
I thought Tim Roth was great too. He kinda wavered as well, except between sincere and OTT.
