It’s been nine years (!!!!) since someone mentioned Nightwish in this place. I’ve only just discovered them, and I’m obsessed with the live version of Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JYjIlHWBAVo

I get the love for Tarja, but Floor fucking kills it in this version. Just about bought me to tears listening to this again today (it’s been a tough week).

Yeah, followed this band for years. Tarja was good (listened to Ghost Love Score A LOT!), but once Floor joined man as you said, she kills it, the best move they made getting her into the band.

Which reminds me, I don't think I've got Endless Forms Most Beautiful yet, sheesh it has been a while!

If you like Nightwish then try the band Epica I love that shit as well, the lead singer is also hot.

Tasty

Spotify has a “Gothic Symphonic Metal” playlist which is in heavy rotation. Epica, Delain, Within Temptation etc etc etc. Loving it, perfect for work.

All credit to Jonas, he pointed me Vulfpeck's way in the first place and since then I've followed the different branches of that musical tree with Cory Wong, Nate Smith, Joey Dosik, Fearless Flyers (which takes me back to Snarky Puppy via Mark Lettieri)... so much good listening.

My discover weekly just served this one up. Very nice. Mash together Prince, D'Angelo, Andre 3000, with Radiohead style guitarpeggios.

YORU 夜 - 1984 (feat. GRYFF)

Sol Flare - Striker (feat. Norabeta)

Myon x Late Night Alumni - Hearts & Silence (TurboVCR Synthwave Remix)

Fury Weekend - Euphoria (feat. Scandroid)

W O L F C L U B - Summer Lights

There's so much good synth coming out at the moment. I'm having a golden age of music right now. Best thing since grunge.

Stuff

One of my first cassette tapes I had to play on my walkman was the bobby brown - don't be cruel album. Hated it but didn't have much else to listen to as my parents had mostly vinyls.

Listening to the same on my iPhone and I don't mind it. Shame. And I don't even like R&B. Maybe it's appealing to my appreciation of synth-pop.

^^^ it's rare that a feeling of nostalgia can withstand actually listening to an old song that used to bring you joy.

My work music for 2019 has been the Doom 2016 soundtrack on repeat... I reckon if I got some more clients I enjoy working with I may be able to move away from this habit.

Hmm - a search for "Marc Rebillet" found nothing, yet this is where I thought I found him.

Emma Ruth Rundle | Darkhorse - On Dark Horses 2018. Full-name singer/songwriter. Random find.
Bølzer | The Archer - Hero 2016. Lots of disdain for this extreme metal release but I love it.
Loving the new Sepultura album Quadra, not a band I've kept up with really.
