hey all you guys recording voice stuff, do you have good mics? I've got a crappy headset mike, reckon that'll come out okay?
I'm gonna have a go at recording some guitar and vocals. |

Yea my mics are quite good. Your headset mic will probably come out sounding like a radio. But that could suit a guitar / voice song.

i've just been recording some voice and guitar with my headset mic, comes out pretty weak/low volume and has a bit of a hiss... but yeah its all good.
MAN DO I SUCK AT SINGING!! hahah just doing a version of Coldplay's song "god put a smile on your face". It has some nice fat down tuned acoustic |

so yeah i can't sing ;)
I've discovered its kinda difficult recording seperate tracks in time
hehe. meh this will do for now, i'll practice and redo it. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/pro...-coldplay1.mp3 its called "God put a smile upon your face", by Coldplay. Sorry bout the size, its 5 meg. Upping now, should be up in 4 mins. I used Audacity to record it and vaguely managed to get the 3 tracks in time. I'd do the bass but the amp is down the other end of the house, effort fact0r. Ah well, all good fun. RIght... breakfast time ! |

Audacity does ok... but im getting a hell of alot of white noise ...constant loud humming.
is this my crap Microphone? i tryed turning my speakers off/on while recording.... no difference. had nearly finished a "ok" recording, when the fone rings in the middle of it. lol. any ideas of how to get rid of that hum? ive not used recording equipment like THIS before. |

this may or may not be fantastic. sometimes the sort of phasing effect introduced can be worse than the noise.

Actually, Seldom, what software did you use for that track you did? I could just use that instead of a real drummer (so drums is taken care of). I've got a midi keyboard (Korg SP200, full weighted 88 keys ~ ) with midi inputs into my comp. That should be enough for keys right? |

As for my song, my wife lost the lyrics i had written down. *rolls eyes* and although i could probably remember them if i tryed, i think i might try another song. im thinking Radiohead's - Creep with nzgames lyrics. we will see... ive got till X-mas i heard Jonas say. What did you expect zorro? A coupla regular Bacharachs and Cole Porters to grace these forums and pen you a couple of worthy tunes? None of us are trying to prove anything to you or anyone here. Its a chance to have a go and have fun. Will you allow us that without your curdling remarks?

Now, on with the thread.
There are still alot of promised songs yet to be added to the soundtrack. Madlep? Devil? Bogan? Fobski? Osmius? and Simon? Cmon fellas. I expect the extra time you've had will allow you all to produce songs that'll easily blow the rest of us away. |

i think most of the tracks so far have been knocked together in a rather short time, no? surely one can find an hour out of one's busy day to have a quick noodle.

ok this is just the start of a song, I couldn't be bothered writing anymore lyrics, but if you like it I might continue
the music is from the feelers - fishing for lisa, and I call it surfing to quakenews I can't quite get as high as the singer so it sounds a bit different http://dteam.orcon.net.nz/quakenews.mp3 [lyrics] Surfing to quakenews Refreshing every 5 seconds that pass I should have known better Now I sit here trying make up a comeback I thought you were my reason to spam I'm trying to be a troller You post some flames and they get returned I'm looking for a flatter We're geek friendly with DSL I'm in the six day war quakenews I'm twenty four (and I dig those teens) When will pluck wake up? She really aint gonna Franz Josef [/lyrics] |

"I just had the most epic and bent weekend of my life" aka "Homage to fromage and presets" [2.7meg]. Its kind of an electro chip-hop blip-tune number... 1 hour from go to whoa.
If it sounds a bit wimpy crank the bass a little... there is some subzy action down there. |
