S7E01 Walking Dead was fucking awesome. I see a lot of sour nerds on the internet complaining about it. Over-analysing the shit out of it and saying stupid shit like "They made me wait 6 months to find out who died!" Well... yeah. That's the point. It's called suspense. That's the entire fucking point of a cliffhanger. It gives you a reason to come back to the show after a 6 month break. Stop fucking whining.

The Glenn bit was exactly like the cells from the graphic novel - very well done.

I'm just getting started on Westworld, seems pretty good so far, about 3 eps in. One thing that bugs me is how do they make the guns deadly for the hosts and not the newcomers? I mean, if the newcomer's guns are deadly and all of the hosts are effectively shooting blanks, that would ensure that the hosts couldn't kill the newcomers while allowing the newcomers to do what they pleased. But that can't really be what's going on because it would then mean that the newcomers would be able to kill one another, which is surely an outcome that they must want to prevent. So I can only conclude that all of the guns must be 'fake' in some way. They still fire bullets which can hit things, like a paintball gun perhaps, but they're not actually deadly like hot lead would be. Instead, the hosts are made of some kind of programmable smart material which, when hit in the right way, such as by one of the fake bullets, behaves as if the bullet were real, spontaneously forming a sort of 'bullet hole'. Is this the explanation that others have come to for the way the guns work? Or am I missing something more simple/obvious?

Bullets have a way of detecting real flesh, disintegrating on contact? There's still an impact, but the bullet cannot penetrate?
What I was wondering about was the need to give permission for pyrotechnics, and how they control nitroglycerin? My guess, smart materials at the molecular level?

Also, that recent episode where they dug the bullet out of Maeve seems to wreck the idea of smart flesh spontaneously forming holes.

The latest episode is fantastic. And the music for the whole series is perfect.

I wanted to hate it but the TV miniseries of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell was actually pretty fucking good. The actor who played Strange just fucking nailed it, and some of the scenes were just like I imagined them.
