a) I have no idea what pome justice is;
b) personally I think it's most likely that what happened is this: in the early 2000s Google bought a mobile OS because it didn't want to miss out on ad revenue from mobile browsers. At the time the hottest smartphone was the Blackberry, so Google bought Android and said to the team "make a Blackberry clone". Then when the iPhone was under development Eric Schmidt comes back from meetings at Apple, bursts in the door... Schmidt: "I've seen the future and it ain't Blackberry, cancel that shit immediately and start building something like the OS described in these documents, documents that you will burn afterwards and which I will deny ever having shown to you." Android team: "The fuck? We've been working on software to drive a device with a scroll wheel and a hardware keyboard, but the thing in these docs is entirely touch-driven. We're not making something with a touch interface." Schmidt: "You are now." Android team: "But we'll have to stick a half-arsed touch-input layer on top of an OS that wasn't designed for it, and the interface will be laggy as shit." Schmidt: "JUST DO IT." *phone rings* Schmidt: "Oh hi Steve, great meeting this morning, oh yeah by the way I was thinking that maybe I should resign from the board because now we've got a touch-driven smartphone in development--" (looks up, sees Andy Rubin making throat-cutting gestures with a panicked look on his face) "--I mean, we've had a touch-driven smartphone in development for years -- and you know, it'll be a competitor to your phone, and so I was thinking, like, I really should resign from the Apple board. Yeah I know I've been receiving your phone research and prototyping reports for a year now without saying anything, but you know, it just slipped my mind, in every board meeting, email, and conversation we've had recently. Did I say recently? I mean, for years. Because that's how long we've been doing our one. Totally not just recently. Gottagokthxbye!" (to Rubin) "JUST FUCKING DO IT." |

Tom Cruise could play Ballmer by resurrecting Les Grossman and putting on some stilts.

The one, and only thing I miss from Apple is their build quality. I don't care if they break when you drop them, they felt and looked sexy. The S3, while I think *personally* wins out of both phones, looks and feels like shit. I'm considering getting a wallet cover for it so I can hide it from my eyes when I don't need to see it. I can't believe they made the S4 lighter and thinner, it's way too light and thin as the S3! |

But Apple made the iPhone thinner and lighter... so it must be good.

It's quite hilarious the people who come in and jump on the bandwagon (indigo shouldn't post blah blah), given that the tardism in this thread for the past couple of page comes _in between_ my posts, not on them.
Go ahead, read back to where I chimed in (Croco's post a page or two back) Indeed you see I've contributed very little and really not made any divisive comments (except in response to cyc's completely off topic tantrum in the middle) Of course, someone people take any conversation as a challenge to their epeen and begin their spouting. You can pick these ones because they read like creationist posts in an evolution thread. Yes I take credit for calling Apple self important.. because they are. (Also; Hey mpx, I won't ever respect you having met you IRL) Waits for army of mouthbreathers to scrutinize my post, focus on irrelevant inaccuracies, and look for any minor contradictions since I began posting on forums. dont like the shape of the S3, or the S4. round is lame, i prefer the square with round edges shape of the S2. also, the thinner the better.

Just sold my S2 for a cheap LTE S3. Yeah, I like the 'boxy' S2 look better, but I wanted a bigger and better screen, and thats the S3. They're pretty cheap atm with all the new phones coming out..

HENCE WHY FOREVER ALONE

My pink Chinese tablet with awful battery life (40 mins of usage if I was lucky) has become usable. Previously it would drain ridiculously quickly, then shut down claiming it was running out of juice. I didn't really use it because it was pointless. That's what you get for $72NZ delivered, I concluded.
Put it on charge last night, maxxed out at 92%. Suspecting something wasn't right, I ran a Battery Calibration app which deleted a file related to the battery's history/properties and now I've been using it for a few hours with WiFi on, and have 70% battery life remaining. Much better! I recommend everyone with an Android try calibrating their battery at least once after you've cycled it a few times from new (leave it on charge for ages the first few times, even if it reads 100%). It certainly won't do any harm, and you might just be surprised at the results.

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind if Apple developed/included/updated-my-phone-to-have some kind of Magical and Revolutionary version of Widgets. I'm still surprised at the iPhones complete lack of info it can display on the home screen - come on guys, my blackberry could show me more detail without opening any aps than an iPhone.

Yeah to be honest I was pretty anti-widget until I made the move, now there's some I can't live without. I don't really have much but the ones I do like 'Eye in the Sky' weather and Spotify are badass.
