Unix server in our client's test environment trying to connect to Windows SQL server via SFTP (public/private key auth) to pull some data across, hasn't worked for two years from the sound of it, but they've only just realised and raised the fault, now client wants/needs it fixed before Monday for UAT >_<

Used to drive me crazy when I got an "OMG URGENT" fault on a Friday, stay late and fix then when I go to contact the user they have left ... call their cell phone "what? oh that ok yeha umm will check on monday"

that will be an easy fix certificate has probably expired, generate a new one, replace, solved!

crappy edit time ... if it's any help bro Nearly every Unix ssh related transfer problem I have come across has been caused by;

- Expired/Incorrectly applied certificate
- Someone tried manually edit the keystore
- Time difference between the two servers

What grinds my gears:
My 1400VA UPS dying this morning. Then after bypassing the dead UPS and powering up the 2 PCs that were attached to it, getting an error on one of my 2TB HDDs (The most important of the 4). The partition is corrupt and I don't know if I'll be able to recover the data or if I'll just have to re-partition & format it. Most of the data I can get back from elsewhere - but it will be a pain in the arse. Bloody thing was a 2TB with ~50GB free - that's a lot of data!

JBHFI is beyond useless, great prices, but retarded clueless staff. Got told to by a salesmen to jump on a computer and google he product he was trying to sell me so that I could get the specs (as he didn't know), fortunately this allowed me to see that the same product was being sold by Albany %100 extreme for a fraction more but without having to deal with braindead kids.

Would recommend albany extreme, will generally meet jbhifi's prices but without the aggravation.

Nah, not the porn drive, thank goodness. But it did hold my current TV as well as my A-J TV archived programs.

Most of what I had is stored by other people as well, so at worst I would have lost a few programs. If I can recover the data from the drive then it will save a heap of hassle though. Obviously there is nothing critical or I would have backed it up. I don't have my porn backed up either, but I could probably find more porn on the internet if I looked.

I work a weekend job while I study, light technical duties. If I get queries I can't answer, I'll create a request ticket for our team so someone can pick it up on Monday.

So the fucking team leader picks up one of my tickets, replies to ME with a one line response (even though I've set up the ticket so a normal reply process would go to the customer) that doesn't fully answer the customer's question. Which means the customer has now waited a week for a response and will have to wait even longer.

What the fuck, and this is just a week or two after the CEO raged about a 3 day response time to such queries. What a fucking muppet.

Shot bro, yeah I suspect its one or both of points one and two. Due to the nature of the environment (bank), everything is locked down tighter than a nun's proverbial, yet for some reason they've given the Unix security team local admin rights to our SQL server. This has resulted in them jumping onto a dns server, and using it as a jump box to our SQL server, where I suspect one or more of them have had a go at manually copying the old key into the keystore. This has now fucked several connections to the SQL box

Can't get an account on the Unix box to run the ssh-keygen, so stuck waiting until some Unix noob in India can run it on Monday and then SSH the new key to us - and Monday is a holiday for financial institutions in NSW

Having my cold turn into a secondary infection of sinustis. Being totally bedridden for 3 days and losing over 3kgs is not my idea of fun. Oh, and the whole constant headache thing kinda sucked too.

I got up at 6am feeling like shit after being up all night battling with a cold. I came to work anyway at 7AM as the next person wouldn't be in until 8:30 and the guy waiting for me so he could leave had been here since 7PM, so I figured it'd be mean to make him stay an extra hour and a half if I could manage to drag myself in to work for a short period of time. (I planned to leave at 8:30 when the other guys arrived so I could go home and die alone.)

I arrived at 7, the night guy took his sleep deprived ass home. Then at 8:10 colleague A called and said "I'm sick, not coming in today". at 8:30 colleague B showed up, I told him "A is sick and I'm really unwell so I'm gonna head home when our boss shows up"

At 9AM I went away from my desk to do some work for 10 minutes. Our boss arrived during this time. I come back upstairs and B has told the boss he is going home sick. Basically the fucker decided he didn't want to have to deal with an increased workload and got in before I could.

So here I am, sitting here gunked up and spluttering all over the place all by myself for the rest of the day.
