I logged onto a random public multiplayer server the other day and people were like, "LOOKING FOR WORK" and "LOOKING FOR LABOUR, WILL PAY COAL/DIAMOND" etc.. I couldn't believe it.

I wonder if we'll see Minecraft farmers on popular servers, or paying for diamond, etc.

I've been running it on mine - fixes up buckets, adds coloured names, ability for non admins to get a list of who's on the server, stops fires, etc... (doesn't block boats/minecarts though)

So having spent the past 3 hours dicking around, I'm now left with a few questions.

1) wtf, I spawned on Easter Island. Knock down a tree my ass... all I got was grass.

2) How hard is it usually to find any useful rocks? I've seriously dug down deep and wide and found very little. Not even some coal :/ I did find flint...

If it's any use to you, here's my cheap and nasty script to automatically restart the server when it falls over

Then just fire it up in a screen session

On Single Player I've played a few maps and yeah coal can be few and far between...if you are not happy just generate another map....I'm sorta on my sixth map...a nice snowy one....think I'll stay on there for a bit.

I got logged in and played for a couple of hours no problem.... I was wondering why I was the only one on the server for 99% of the time :/

I have updated my server with online-mode=false and verify-names=false, which I believe means it won't try and phone home to make sure players are registered.

Starting my client, it doesn't login currently, but if I choose offline mode, then multiplayer I can still connect to the server fine.

OK, scratch that, not a great solution.

Because you're not logged in you appear as 'Player' and, of course, have no inventory... plus I'm not sure what happens when multiple 'Player' users are logged in.

Someone tried to light fire to mine and someone elses house via lava and TNT last night, not sure what was up with that. The regulars know that lava won't burn and TNT is disabled on Sam's server. Still annoying having to remove the wall of lava!

During the downtime last night I started a new single player level and it came up in snow - frozen water = house on frozen water = awesome. And when fishing comes out in halloween update, fishing in house = double awesome.
