He wanted me to come over to the eastern outpost with him, but given I was in my lunchbreak, I wanted to (a) get my tunnel between my place and my trap finished; (b) get the lava blade done on the trap; (c) any remaining time spent on adding to the trap.....

Been giving this more thought. Falling damage won't work as you get zombies wearing armour. Plus one mis timed creeper and the trap would be wrecked.

So standing somewhere close to the blade would be best, you probably wouldn't get xp from every mob, but should get some, even then you still run risks with creepers.

Been away for a few days and found someone been messing with my house near the Eastern outpost. My armorstand with armor is missing, someone placed obsidian/coblestone in odd places in my house too. Various items missing too (food/made gear like ladders etc).

They also harvested half of my crops and didn't replant any of them....

On a side note and a bit off topic...does anyone know where to get a good deal on purchasing this? I didn't realise it is so expensive to buy...since I got it when it first came out at about $10.00 or so.

Was suggesting my friend to get it for their 3 kids and was looking for maybe getting a 4 pack deal cheap somewhere...had a bit of a look but did not find anything.

Other news: I'm moving the killing hole for the trap...
Without lava, the tunnel is superfluous, so moving the hole to there.
The trap exit is blocked by 2x2 square of dirt and the hole needs to be lined with glass.

The existing hole will remain, but get covered in.

The midget-zombie spawner command block.... part of me feels that's cheating a bit. Interested to hear other people's PoV.

For death-by-drop testing only, plus I've rigged it so they don't actually drop anything (well, maybe rotten flesh). Happy to get rid of it if you don't want it.

well, I ran out of tools,, so I went back to my base (thinking I had iron ingots there) and couldn't find them - I'm 99% sure I hadn't used them....

ahhh - makes sense...
Where it spawns them little buggers is now filled in, so the command block might as well go

Had an idea to avoid using glass, but didn't make it work right - spiders can survive so now got to line the new hole with glass

had another idea - you don't have to deliver teh killing blow to generate XP....
So hit the mobs just as the fall into the hole? Bloody brilliant! Until I fucked up the timing with a creeper

At least with no lava, it's relatively easy to fix up.

looks like I've had an enderman in the trap. Had to do some repairs. Almost died (1 heart left) from a skelly - wasn't til I was almost dead that I noticed the purple tinge to its bow.... eeep. Can't be casual around some of these mobs now!

Found 1 thing that can survive the trap - midget zombie riding a chicken!

still don't think it is as efficient as it could be - it doesn't feel like mobs spawn when you are at the bottom collecting things

Yeah, I went to bed some time this morning - it felt like no sleep at all, been a zombie at work today (don't hit me with a sword!).

Put something like 7 or 8 hours into it, there's even a big pit off to the right where I mined the cobble from, lol

I can put a automagical collect+return to top system in if you want, I got quite a bit of iron from digging that hole, can make enough hoppers etc. Also managed to find a book with Silk Touch in a mine; Have applied that to a pair of sheers, so can recover the glass used in the old trap-hole
