It's possible, but for every Lightspeed post that says "mental health and sexual-abuse support services are being cut under National and that's a bad thing" (with which, incidentally, I completely agree) there are eleventy squillion Facebook and Twitter posts by left activists shouting "FUCK JOHN KEY! FUCK JOHN KEY!".

Key Derangement Syndrome is the worst thing to have happened to political discourse in this country in recent memory, because it means National can get away with anything. John Key could say "the environment is important" and Twitter would light up with Labour and Greens activists shouting "FUCK THE ENVIRONMENT! FUCK JOHN KEY!"

Then all Key has to do is turn to the NZ public, point over at Labour and the Greens, shrug wistfully and say "you want those guys near government?" and National gets a blank cheque from the electorate.
