Huh?

5 or so warriors expressed an interest, but none had the points necessary.

No better tanking weapons start dropping till naxx, you should really think about prioritising an amazing weapon like that to warrs.

It's a pretty shitty tanking weapon really, the stamina is nice but it's really slow and the attack power is wasted.

I dont exactly play a warrior but I understand the mechanics..

More dmg = more dps = more rage?

Also since dual weilding fury is so leet wouldnt a war want to kill 2 birds with one stone :O

White damage makes up a vanishingly small percentage of the threat a tanking warrior in tanking gear generates in defensive stance, and in 40 mans, a minority of rage generated.

No one's disputing it's a great Fury DPS weapon (I'm fury spec and I'd really love to have one) but personally I wouldn't find that to be a good enough reason for a class lock.

Yer true, but i was meaning more in the way of actual rage generation not threat off hit. Wont the extra rage from hitting harder therefore mean more potential threat as you have more skills spammed in the same amount of time.

[edit]

I didnt read the 2nd half of your post :P

Please ignore me

My answer's in what you quoted dude. >_<

Most rage when you're tanking big bad raid mobs comes from getting hit.

Edit: Heh, just saw your edit. nps

auto-attack only, ie no skill based damage from heroic striking etc

White damage is ordinary damage from non-special attacks - ie, from auto-attack. The numbers appear in white, hence the name. Damage from special skills like Heroic Strike, Sinister Strike, Raptor Strike etc all appear in yellow.

You will get a small amount more rage from your swings, but the weapon's speed means you're less able to burn through it effectively. Heroic Strike is one of the most spammable high-threat abilities, but as it's an 'on next attack' ability like cleave, you can only use it as fast as you can swing your weapon.

Shit thats pretty nice. Good n fast. I always thought armor was a little redundant on anything but a druid weapon tho.

Every single threat ability posessed by a warrior, prot or otherwise, has a static amount of threat with it. For example, Sunder is say 285 threat, Revenge is 350 threat, Shield Slam is 250 threat, HS is 175 threat.

These are all "innate" threat values. The only way to scale up your threat generation is to tack on white damage, and that of course comes from the weapons DPS (or AP + block value for shield slam). In an infinite rage situation you can spam HS, and in that scenario faster will generally be better, but outside of Vael I haven't found a mob yet that I can't empty my rage bar on while tanking.

It's certainly not 2.0 speed of Quel, but neither is it the 2.8 of Spineshatter. If I didn't have a TF I'd absolutely pick up a Crul for tanking over anything else pre Naxx/AQ40. All imho of course.

Sure, it's not a worthless tanking weapon either. I think the issue at hand, at least for me, was whether ForKoreaLove's claim that it should be made Warrior priority is justifiable.

Again, IMO it's not, at least not unless your Warriors are still tanking with Timeworn Mace or Scarlet Kris.

When your looking at the minimal % difference in threat generation from white damage, real stats on an item generaly gives it the weighter value.

Meh, Crul was a Tank (MT1 and MT2 only) priority weapon in our guild. Only one was prioritised because the MT2 has TF. Currently our MT1 uses it as his main tanking weapon (though he has several situational weapons). I think Widow's Remorse is the only thing he plans on replacing it with.

The MT is Ciderhelm, author of the stickied "guide to endgame tanking" on the warrior forums, needless to say he knows what's good and what's not :x

imo tanks need +weapon skill and +hit and/or crit, needless to say the obvious + stamina.

Spineshatter is pretty sweet imo. I've never been a fanboy of quel.

Yeah but later on especially if you're prot(anticipation) and your starting to get into T3 defense becomes easier to drop for armor/stam.

e.g. rings: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=23018
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19376

The extra armor/stam is awesome after your past the cannot be crit point.

Is it just me or is 20 durability a strangely tiny amount for a tanking weapon?

(I'm a lock who knows nothing of tanking business)

It's real in a way.

It's a private server with edited data files.

That particular glaive is worn by Vol'jin in Org.

No character can get it.
