I *thought* I read Chuck Norris! But by the time I came back to the article there was no mention of it. For a while there I wondered if I imagined it.

Actual serious matter? Or has Stuff ramped up their internets reporting to 11 for this story and made it more damaging than what actually happened? Master password? Swaths of Vodafone customers accessing other customers accounts? Or someone on a forum exaggerated a little and stuff got a hold of it? I'm not sure...but it'll be interesting to see the outcome.

Next up, virtual reality headsets will let us travel the world wide webs information highway and allow us to hack people's computers using green lines of code while we wave our hands grabbing the datas.

It's not a fucking Porsche. Not all sporty looking cars are Porsches! I emailed these dropkicks to tell them the it's a Nissan 350Z and they've actually updated the article since it was published yesterday. But did they correct the error? NooooOOOOooo!

Idiots can't tell their vehicles apart.

Credit where credit is due - I liked this one:

Quote:
A Timaru driver discovered a new meaning of the phrase code brown yesterday afternoon.

A four-wheel-drive was pulling a portaloo trailer on State Highway 1 near Washdyke when the trailer broke free.

The trailer rolled backwards to the side of the road, hit a ditch and flipped over.

Constable Jan Gibbs said she could imagine the word that came out of the driver's mouth.

She was unable to say if there were any skid marks.

Mobil will not be prosecuted after a landslide caused 1.2 million litres of jet fuel to spill from a tank in Lyttelton.

The landslide happened during a major storm on March 5, damaging two fuel tanks at Mobil Oil New Zealand's tank farm at Naval Point in Lyttelton.

About 1500 litres of fuel went into Lyttelton Harbour through a drainage system before sandbags were put in place.

I dont get it. 1.2 million litres spilled, but only 1500 litres of that went into the harbour.

Armed gunmen? One supposes the other, does it not? If you're a gunman, then you're armed. If you're armed, then you're a gunman. It's enough to say one or the other without hyping up the term for melodramatic effect.

Only is you're armed with a gun - but I agree with you, it's a hyperbolic use of language which was unnecessary.

Isn't that a common way of saying it? Im sure all news outlets (print, radio& TV) say that.
Armed = armed with a weapon.
So using armed, then you require gunman.
Yes, you could use gunman by itself.

In terms of it being in this thread...

Herald still suffering stupid fucking headline syndrome

"Pilot saves passengers by dodging lightning"
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news...ectid=11431206

The very first sentence:
"A pilot saved his passengers with just seven seconds to spare after his plane was struck by lightning and went into a steep dive.'

Apparently the subtle difference between 'earlier' and 'later' is too much for the Herald.
