Yep, 8 eps (or is it 10?) plus a movie...the eps will generally focus on one character so you can catch up on what they've been up to, then the movie will be the finale. Or so I hear.

Revolution 01x01 is out, just watched with the missus - although if you've seen the trailer you've pretty much seen the first episode

Quite enjoyed it tbh, be interested to see where it goes and if they continue to fill in more of the back story for Monroe etc. or just pick up from 'present' day

Actually, building a simple steam engine is quite easy.
And, who said anything about generators?
There is still a rail infrastructure - steam or diesel powered engines.....
Diesel vehicles (4x4's for example) would still run - just without lights or wipers etc.

Come on, like the end of the modern "industrial" world wouldn't be fun

Is it actually possible to start a diesel engine without power though ? I have no idea, but I thought it needed powered/heated glow plugs still (and a starter motor, but that could be overcome mechanically) - which presumably wouldn't work for the same reason nothing else requiring power does - hoping in 15 years they'd have thought to at least try

The first diesels were all hand cranked to start. I guess the key here is not to rationalise it. So in other words more Lost BS.

Good luck getting a modern diesel running in a power blackout.

EFI and electric fuel pumps galore.

Also in the US diesel is mainly restricted to heavy stuff, diesel passenger vehicles / light trucks are a fairly recent thing in the US and all of those would have ECU's so would be useless.

The only thing that has a high probability to run without something electronic are older farm tractors and heavy trucks.

Also have fun hand cranking a 22:1 CR motor
