NZ Poker Tournament
ok guys and girls, its time to bluff, steal, and lie your way to the top of the poker tournament ladder.
this wednesday at 7pm (your time, not mine) there will be a $5.50 tournament on Pokerstars.com named "NEW ZEALAND HOLD EM". the tournament will be No Limit holdem, and the more we get the more fun it will be. now, knowing some of you probably have no way of getting $5.50 onto pokerstars, im gonna give away 4 buy ins (maybe more.. we will see) for this tournament. first giveaway will be given to someone who can give me a good password, and hint. i have to write in the tournament lobby a hint to all KIWIS who will understand it, and know what the password is. for example: how do you say Hello in Maori: the password would be "Kiaora" if you win a seat, you only have to have a registered account on pokerstars, and i can just send you the cash to buy into the tournament with. just be registered, and online ready to play at 7pm! so! win the first seat, and gimmie a password and hint so i can get it posted!! gl |

I'm definitely keen but I might have soccer that night so I gotto check but super keen for free entry
and for the question/pw ... umm how about Q: what do you say to a maori with one leg shorter than the other? A: ... not even au! ? |

|
Another Poker client to get? My computers filled with enough spyware already XD
I might be in, we'll see. Your idea for a password is probably the best - not open to interpretation at all except for if there's a space or not, and you get more than one guess. |

Chance of me being able to play at that time is low, however i nice simple question which should do the trick is:
Q: best rugby team in the world? A: all blacks I also like this: Q: who coined the term cheeky darky A: paul holmes

well, dont worry to much if you cant make it.. this i have total control over, and can have as many tournaments as i want....and whenever i want.
since alot of sites have shut down to the americans, ive noticed alot of NZders around... so im hoping we might pick up a decent amount of players first time round. so this password thing kinda needs to be common enough for kiwis to get... but not so common (like the All Blacks suggestion) that the world knows it maybe my Kiaora thing would be best? ... and i should just think of some ways to give out some seats Last edited by Erazhure : 10th December 2006 at 23:59. |

I'll probably be there, altho I'm usually a holdempoker player, but will download pokerstars for this.
Question: Q: Cookbook found in every New Zealand Home? A: Edmonds Q: Kiwis & Aussies play for the ........ Cup in Rugby.

jeez Erazhure the UI for pokerstars is fucking atrocious, it looks disgusting! Pokerroom.com is much more user friendly I find (formerly holdempoker). any reason you use pokerstars??

if you use neteller, its a min $25 deposit.
many reasons i use PS silva (# of players, lost of diff style games, the money available to win, the statistic trackers on the WWW) i actually find the GUI the best (ease of use) of the 4-5 different sites i use. *shrug* And there will be more than just the 4 seats im "giving away".. thats for sure but hey, if you not keen thats cool. was just seeing if there was any interested, seeing the last poker thread became like 6 pages long. was basically trying to share the wealth and give you guys the chance to come play some poker with me. with or without depositing cash. just trying to be nice.. yeah I'm definitely on provided I'm free for that time
I've been looking for a good time to play some online poker again and knowing that it'll be a bit more kiwi oriented is quite cool! I'll check out net teller, I've not touched this thing with real money before. |

hey Lumpy. neteller is the new way Americans put money onto poker sites, seeing credit cards dont work directly anymore.
they are pretty trusted. alot of poker players just leave thier money sitting in neteller. and withdrawl or deposit it as they need. i have mine connected directly to my bankaccount, so withdrawls only take about 2 days to get tax free. its a good thing... ill be using it for years to come im sure. |

well, I guess I won't be needing your free seat then
I'll get onto this neteller bizzo and with luck rock on in on Wednesday! |

Lol gogogo client dl on 56k . Hopefully it finishes soon enough that the table is still up and i can beg for money to lose :P. I havn't played poker before, however in the last 30 mins i gave myself a mean crash course which just has me a little foggy on a couple of slang terms and the exacts of how betting works (with reference to checking which just seems strange to me)
Btw that crash course includes understanding the percentages etc connected to particular hands coming up etc and playing a whole lot of test hands to understand why one had beats another and the likelyhood your pocket will yield results etc.

Here's a concept for the question. The answer is Fruju. Example question would be an advertisement with the jingle ow ah ow ah ow ah and a bikini clad girl selling something (perhaps even juming off a yacht).
Anyway, has to be something too hard to google for (for most people) surely? |

I'll be in for this, I use Pokerstars as my main poker browser.
The browser is alright but more importantly, the amount of players and action the site has is huge. It also plays host to some of the recent WSOP winners. I sat and watched Chris Moneymaker play high stakes and he was getting cleaned up by a couple of online sharks, bit of a difference when you can't read your players. Anyone know of any decent (offline) poker games outside of the Casino? I don't mind the Casino ones but I'm getting sick of playing the same faces whenever I'm in Wellington, Hamilton, Christchurch or Auckland. |

Hell yeah I'm keen. I've just started on the road to becoming the Worlds greatest poker player after being inspired by Erazhures poker thread a few months back and have been playing play money SnG's on PokerStars for about a month now. Won a few 300+20 play 45 plyr games but struggle to make the bubble on the 2000+110 play money SnG games - still got a lot to learn.
The missus aint too keen on me spending any real money so I tried to set up a netteller account last week to bonus whore me some free $$$. However you need phone confirmation to get it verified so have been playing phone tag for the last week with no luck yet. So yeah I'm keen on any free seats. Maybe a freeroll satellite? Oh and anyone that thinks that internet poker is inferior because you can't read people must be a n00b who watches too much James Bond. Online poker forces you to read peoples plays not just their faces so when you play real games you have the advantage by gaining info from both whereas the other guy only has your dark sunglasses stone faced expression to go from. The thing I hate about online poker and one of the reasons that I change accounts so often (I'm constantly deleting and remaking new accounts) is because there are trackers online now that take away all of the work that you would normally have to do as a player
It's obvious when someone is using them when they only tend to play against one other player at the table that they can bow down after the flop with some big bets. |

errr??? cause playing in real life you cant see the other players bets ?

You've misunderstood me.
There are software tools that poll the databases of online poker rooms and keep dossiers on every single player, regardless of whether you're at the table with them or not. Using these software tools, you find out who is a fish and who is a shark based on their play after the flop and how prone they are to folding against big bets. It takes away the science of working out a player yourself because it already has all of the details for you. So either you need to change up your style, join in on it and get your own software to read other players or consistently and constantly change your playing account to stop your style being discovered. |

haha Hoon.. hope you not losing all your money and blaming it on me :P
Sorry Xus, stars gave me make a tournament rights..but freerolls and anything less than $5 i cant do so anyway... Silva wins one seat! congrats.. ill be sending your $5.50 in a few mins. read above posts to see how to find it and get in. J.P: yes, there are statistic trackers out there. www.thepokerdb.com for Multi table tournaments, and www.sharkscope.com for SNGs. i personally dont see why you bother changing your name alot unless you are a losing player.. lol.. i use Sharkscope to track my own stats. and its certainly funny when someone is bitching at you for busting them... and you look em up and they are down $8k. lol looks like we got some interest, so thats cool. hopefully will be a fun game. so... Silva has one seat. (the money is there Silva, check your account) and now its time to give another one away...... i will be back in 10 mins with your chance! stay tuned! |

How is cheating prevented with online poker e.g. collusion to play only the best hand of three people at the table?
|

First to answer all these correctly, wins seat number 2.
1: who won the WSOP in 2004 main event? 2: what is the nickname for AK? 3: who is known as "The Professor" of poker? 4: Mathmatically speaking, i will get dealt aces every ___ hands. 5: my QQ vs your AK. what percentage of the time will AK win? 6: how many "outs" does an open ended straight have? 7: "4th street" is what? 8: who won the 1998 WSOP main event? 9: when i push all my chips in the middle, i am ____? 10: what is percentage chance i flop a set (3 of a kind) when im holding 55. Ready, steady, EDDIE! |

there was a $50 Single table that had 3 colluding players that were caught playing suspiciously, and proved to be colluding. they were immediatly banned from Stars, and everyone on that table was refunded buy ins. if you want more details of how, you would be best to contacts pokerstars themselves. they are very helpfull. |
