N/ACT brings in government funding of political parties

But only if you have a confidence and supply agreement.

So, batten down the hatches. Once again, New Zealanders are going to be used as the lab rats in a nutcase libertarian experiment. To summarise, from the Bell Policy Center Report, the problems with this tool are : services can’t keep pace with growth in the economy. Temporary budget cuts become permanent. Multiple limits restrict flexibility and force false choices. Saving and planning are made very difficult. Yes, that sounds like a good idea to introduce in New Zealand.

Welcome to the Reaganite past, dressed up in new clothes as a pathway to progress.
Ouch.

Did the people who had those vouchers ever get anything back for them?

Well, we're in for 6 - 9 years of this stuff.

God it's going to be hard to cope with it.

Oh, the stuff I'm talking about is the ultra-inane posts that will come from Draco. And, I mean posts far wrose than they once were. Thankfully, I have his posts as read-optional. So, I should be able to cope.

what concerns me is Key saying the NZ gov will have to borrow more! while handing out a tax cut, who does that benefit?

Isn't the saying In for a penny, in for a pound?

In the current climate borrowing more is inevitable so why not give the tax payer a bit of relief at the same time? I'm pretty relaxed about this happening TBH.

Edit -*comment about flame-retardant suit or something*

National and ACT have been getting up in arms about public funding of political parties since it was first mentioned by Labour in the EFA and then, as soon as they get power, incorporate public funding of political parties but only those parties in favour. I found the hypocrisy rather amusing but fully in line with both National's and ACT's past actions.

National party new (old) line - I know that we said we are a new more friendly less conservative National Party that wouldn't go straight towards asset sales and user pays - BUT - the economy is in a really bad shape so . . . we can't afford to invest in certain things - which coincidentally just happen to be former Labour projects

Considering how badly Labour have shafted the books, I'm surprised it wasn't Bill English stealing the alcohol.
