900k people voted for Change FT. Sorry but you're flat out wrong that there was "wasn't much of a public interest in change".
You don't seem to understand that voting once the referendum has been started is not the same as people actively wanting a flag change prior to someone shoving the idea in their face.

Good result. Finally John Key's vanity project can die the death it deserved. Total waste of money. I feel that was $26 million that could have been spent on something important, not to mention all the flags everywhere that would also require updating. But, of course, that cost wouldn't have been at the government's expense.

Agreed. There are 3 camps voting for the union jack.
Those that don't want change.
Those that want change but don't like the alternative..
Those that would want a change but wanted to do a protest vote (what dumbfucks).

We will never know how many fell into the last 2.

Even if we don't agree on whether or not the decision was the right one, at least we can all agree that the process was a complete fuckup. Yeah?

Nope, musicians on a panel would result in some sort of fucking jazz/reggae combination with a 15 minute intro before 1 line of lyrics repeated for the next 40 bars while an epileptic trumpet player soloed in the background.

Didn't they do a new anthem thing already (well, maybe years ago)

I remember Chris Knox's one was hilarious, "New Zealand, it's a really really really really really really really good country!"
