I'm not certain, I'm just aware of the significant environmental impact of mining, and of National's apparent attitude of power over vulnerability. If some money can be made, it doesn't matter who gets screwed over as long as they can't do anything about it, can't make their voices heard.

NZ is rich. That's the long and short of it. If we aren't paying for social policies, it's because those who hold the cards value their personal gratification over an absence of social suffering. Unless there's what some undue burden on some rich folk, like some extra taxes, then it's all "woe woe woe".

They also lack insight to be aware that reduced social suffering is a net positive for everyone. Unless of course you are gratified by the suffering of others.

Let's just fire up the printing presses and print some more money.

I can just see Gnorman Grussels face right now on the kiwi million dollar note.

Somewhat contradictory of you don't you think? Given that's what National have been doing for the last 6 years?

How so? I've not been paying attention much but I admit I thought National was borrowing money rather than printing it.

These increases were partly offset by a 3.1 percent decrease in primary industries

lets have primary industries shrink by 3.1 percent every quarter , seems like and amazing plan.
keep the team that's working or some such.

Was just going to say the same. Agriculture, forestry, and mining shrinking isn't ideal but it's only part of the picture. Unless there's a consistent trend of those areas shrinking, what's the problem?

GDP growth for the year ended June 2014 was 3.5 percent. This is the highest annual growth since the September 2007 quarter.

Agriculture - Greens want to add value instead of just more cows moar cows! Good for Agriculture
Mining - Not like we want to be mining coal forever. No problem with stopping new coal mines being started.
Forestry - Are you seriously saying the Greens are anti-trees? There is lots we can do with forestry to improve exports. At the moment we are just shipping raw logs offshore. NZ the country of innovation can do better than that. Another tick for the Greens.

Cause GDP is services and products.
products give you are more stable and reliable in the long ruck.
services are not .

its good news yes, but keep the picture on the productive sector, manufacturing and exports.

not spending and imports.

There is no evidence to suggest that the greens would do a worse job that National

Typical National voter "lets focus on the What ifs" vs "lets focus on facts"

I like you stratagem thou, detract from actual policy debates and instead focus on a party that's not in power , that's had no real chance to intact its own economic polices.
Man we should totally start doing this to Act right?

And those are the reasons why Greens would fuck those areas of the economy.

Please do? They have some stupid policies. Good thing they're only going to get 1 (2 at a stretch) MPs in the house, meaning the more extreme policies (like shotguns in four squares..lol) are never going to see the light of day.

So you're saying mining is the one and only way to run the country for the rest of eternity? No productive alternatives exist? No innovation etc?

Because I responded with some detail about the 3 areas originally proposed. One of which was no new coal mines being opened. I agreed with this is what needs to happen. We need to keep the coal in the ground to avoid catastrophic climate change in the future.

With no further detail.

Later you added:
Quote:

So from that I concluded that you thought stopping new coal mines would "fuck the economy". Are you able to elaborate on that if I misunderstood?
