If the market was 100% certain that the deal is going to go ahead then the share price would be at/around the deal price. Its pretty close anyway, there is not much in it. If you weigh in the massive downside risk if the deal doesn't go through, they would half I would expect, even worse if Musk just dumps. So you'd expect it to be less.

Proving once again, that those who bought into crypto in the early days were fucking nuts, and are just playing Russian Roulette with extra steps.

Who looks at all LUNA today, and thinks "This is normal."

It certainly doesn't look like Bitcoin et al are behaving as hedges against inflation, now that we actually have inflation. They seem to be behaving more like stocks (in the speculative asset sense) that sell off when the market loses confidence.

It's perfectly normal for a stablecoin locked to the US dollar to be worth (checks charts) 44c

If the detonation of LUNA is like, I dunno, a mortar round, then Tether will be a 10 megaton nuke. It's just as dodgy but far more critical.

The big news is coinbase. How do you fucking lose so much money unless you are making side bets...

...and BTW exchange users assets are not secure in the event of the failure of coinbase. Ruch to the exit in 1,2 3!

Stock is backed by a business with liquidation value, so there's a lower bound on price given their money in the bank & assets. It can't just do this:

Looks like Musk is quailing on his Twitter purchase. Too bad, that's would have been a dumpster fire worth watching.

The deal will die with some due diligence related claim, Twitter will tank, Tesla will jump, and Musk will come off on top, avoiding taxes while growing massively in wealth.

You reckon he figures this shit out himself, or does he have people working these angles for him?

He'll have the crazy idea as the outcome he wants to get to, then I'm sure he has teams of people that are paid more per day than our annual salaries, figuring out how to execute it.

Fuck knows what he's thinking. He's got them bent over a barrel. What's an overpriced tech company that doesn't make any money worth these days?

Maybe he can't afford it now? Tesla has come back 30% since he made the offer.

In hindsight the play was always to short with a stop at the offer price, rather than the other way around.

I remember Ab posting "$4k!" for ETH

Now it's more like "$1.4k!"

The correlation seems to be - and correct me if I'm wrong:

- easy money/stimmy checks: number goes up
- money tightening/rising interest rates: number goes down

Look around, everything is getting hammered. At least Ethereum has a future.

Inflation up, interest rates up, price of food and electricity and petrol and every fucking thing up.

Spare a thought for people who bought Netflix shares, down 77%. A company that actually makes something that people want to pay for, DOWN SEVENTY SEVEN PERCENT.

With this current price drop, Microstrategy is running close to the point where they start facing margin calls and liquidation of their holdings. Popcorn time.

$21k was the figure I heard, but I don't know if that's a round number. It's dipped below $21k now, and I hope we get to see some laser tears.

Microstrategy CFO Phong Le in a quarterly call before the dive:

Quote:
"As far as where Bitcoin needs to fall, we took out the loan at a 25% LTV, the margin call occurs 50% LTV," Le said. "So essentially, Bitcoin needs to cut in half or around $21,000 before we'd have a margin call. That said, before it gets to 50%, we could contribute more Bitcoin to the collateral package"
So he's saying even if the price drops below 21K they just move BTC from the asset pile into the collateral pile. Which is fine, so long as they have a big asset pile.
