Yep, really enjoyed Russian Doll. Season 1 had pretty strong Lost vibes, and I wasn't sure how a Season 2 would go, but they ended up going in a completely different direction (Quantum Leap might be the best comparison?) and it really worked, despite it being a bit more abstract than season 1.

Shall check out Poker Face too.

Tend to agree on most of the comments, and I have the first episode of Poker Face to watch because it has her in it.
But as I have aged, I have lost interest in the types of shows where the main character has some extreme ability

The types of shows like Lie to Me, Monk, House etc, and I feel this will be the same.

I really enjoyed Shadow and Bone. Serious fantasy, not too tropey, a good amount of moral ambiguity. Great characters and acting. Ben Barnes is super-swoon.

Season 2 looks like it's on its way.

Shadow and Bone. Feels like stock fantasy, but slick and enjoyable unlike the cheap a cheesy Witcher spin off. Looking forward to s2.
Last of us. Sad theres only four left. Loving the choices when adapting the content.

Picard S03E01 was decent. Riker and Picard's chemistry is good fun. Crusher's firefight had some punch to it!

what was up with the special effects of the fire. It was over top of ellie. Was that meant to happen for some narrative, like she was a having a bit of our of body experience. Or was that just really shit CGI

Mando S3 is two episodes in. I'm enjoying it but I'm worried that it's getting pulled into the Star Wars cyclone, and won't continue to be a good TV show on its own merits.

I've said it in here before but Mando 1 was awesome because it was a great Old West, Ronin, Lone wolf and cub story first, and a Star Wars story second. Andor was incredible because it was an intellectual war drama first, and a Star Wars story second.

I still don't like that the Mandalorian seems to require the bloody death of a large animal in every second episode.

I've been watching Miami Vice, just an episode here and there, usually while cooking.

It is so freaking good. It starts off maybe a bit goofy, but once Olmos joins the cast, it's perfect, he's the perfect foil for Tubbs and Crockett. They're all over the top and over acting, he's just cool and collected, in control.

Great interview of Olsmos about his career in TV, including this part.

Manages a decent balance between cool and gritty. And it's just so freakin' 80s. The hair cuts, the outfits, the cars. So cool, I love it.

I rewatched the whole lot in sequence after sourcing all the DVDs a while back. Of course, I'd watched most of them when they first came out, but at one stage I became too cool for it, so there were some large chunks I hadn't seen. One was the gut punch in S03E12 that I didn't see coming.

There were a few weird ones - like the James Brown UFO cult (S04E07), the snuff movie (S04E03) and the classic French Interpol agent on the run after a Greenpeace mission in New Zealand (S02E18).

Oh, and the musical guest stars. So good.

So much good music, so many stars before they reached their fame.

Some powerful episodes too, like Crockett coming to grips with how he failed to support his partner who was ostracised when they came out as gay.

I really love how the show showcases Miami. Sometimes with car chases, sometimes just long scenes set to synthwave through the wetlands.
