With that out of the way, my call/text ratio is much higher than yours, so gigantor screen is not high on my criteria, I think that 4.3" is around about the biggest screen size I'd look to, (hence my lack of Galaxy III ownership), I'm really quite happy with the form factor of my Desire as a good size for a phone, and the plastic bodies that seem to be flavour of the moment in smartphones, just don't feel good. |

What I said, was lately Apple have been concentrating more on POWER and PERFORMANCE than INNOVATION and PUSHING THE ENVELOPE when it comes to their products. Something they used to be rather good at. Stagnation is a word that comes to mind. A sense of laziness in the design process because either they're A: Too afraid to do something radical, or B: Just can't be bothered. Like the PC world - their products are beginning to lack any kind of personality. Last edited by Dusty : 13th September 2012 at 15:37. |

I have zero interest in the Galaxy S3 for precisely the above reasons. If I am going to pay that much for a phone, I have no desire to handle on a daily basis (and I have had extensive plays with the device since 3 of my friends own it) something that simply feels so cheap and flimsy to me. That's if I can ever get past its ridiculously large footprint and what that entails for a guy who likes to carry his phone in his pants pockets. Two of my greatest desires in a new Ip was for it to be lighter and thinner, so the new iteration is off to a good start for me. Is it revolutionary and would I want to carry its babies? Nope. But then again no one other than retards like Poison think like that. What continues to appeal to me about the Ip5 and the ecosystem at large is that they make my life easier AND I know that -- with as close to absolute certainty as one can get -- this will continue. Having widgets and being able to hax0r the phone to the nth degree might be very nice if I had the time to bother with such things. But I really haven't got the time to trawl through XDA or whatever the fuck other forums to compare aand contrast 7 different custom roms to see which one has the least battery drain and what not. All this just because I'd like to have the latest bug fixes and enhancements and by dint of the pronouncement of some wannabe-God at some handset manufacturer or mobile carrier, I can't have the latest stock software for my phone. This point is also assuming that it is as tightly tested and as likely to work perfectly "out of the box" as a new iOS upgrade in the first place (unlikely). I can count with 2 fingers the number of times I've run into some kind of major annoyance/bug whilst using the iP/iOS ecosystem for over two years. I don't particularly love Apple as a company but having an iP has made my life immeasurable easier and the software ecosystem is such that having an iP gives me the best chance of expanding my phone to the absolute maximum capability for my kind of usage patterns. |

The iPhone 5 home button looks remarkably similar to the 4S. I thought there was going to be something magical there this time around, where's the innovation apple?

In the end, I went back to my iPhone because the battery lasted significantly longer, the applications were more polished, and it suited my personal needs for a mobile device better than the SGS3 did. To resolve the customisation bug I got from the SGS3 (which was awesome in that regard), I jb'd my iPhone and have got it just how I like it now. GF inherited the SGS3 and is in love with it, win/win. PS: http://www.kogan.com/au/blog/kogan-f...sell-iphone-5/ Last edited by Savage : 13th September 2012 at 16:49. |

I like the new iPhone due to all that manufacturing porn. People have become accustomed to fucking magic for nothing when they buy an apple product, but you try to build your own iPhone. The layers of manufacturing tech is pretty interesting.
Second, I like it that they revamped the iWatch^H^H^HNano to something nice to hold again. Oh and the iPod Touch. Now they have fixed the camera there is no need for me to have a point 'n' click. Yea, I use $15/month on my cell as I have no friends and have a dumb phone. So I don't see myself getting an iPhone any time soon. However I do use my iPod touch an awful lot, so I'll probably be upgrading that next year or so (when 2nd hand ones show on trademe). |

I think Apple have, however, made a misstep with the dock adapter. I'd have thought including one with the phone, would've been a fairly good 'customer focused' gesture on their part. It'd placate a lot of the impending grumpiness that will be abound.
That said, they probably know, as with any change, people will moan and complain, then suck it up and deal with it <sunglasses.gif> |

im pretty sure apple will take the approach of "if you don't like it, don't buy it....yeah, that's what we thought"

For me it just means if I have an IP5, it won't use the same cable as my 'new Ipad', which is a minor inconvenience, but nothing I'm not already used to with having a non Apple phone and an ipad. edit: Ok maybe not include it with the phone, but some kind of bundle deal with a new phone. Meh I don't really care to much, just enough to write out an ill thought out post. Last edited by TnT : 13th September 2012 at 18:38. |
