Apple Watch has an ecg function.
Saturday I was diagnosed in a+e as a-fib Said ecg function won’t diagnose a-fib if your heart rate is over 150. That’s just so useful when your heart rate is over 200 and actually a-fib but I suppose anyone with a heart rate that high for just checking the mailbox should be in hospital regardless.

It's ok man, you can pair off with ePi and together you each average out to a normal heart rate.

After googling tachycardia I found some people may not even notice it. I feel it as if my heart is thumping in my chest like a panic attack I suppose. The doctor I saw at the hospital said some people just live with it but it increases risk of heart failure and blood clots being pushed into the brain causing stroke. It does damage every time it happens to me and I feel an ache for at least a few days later. This one was worse though and I’m still not feeling the best and my heart just feels weird. I’ve described this odd feeling it to a specialist doc before as feeling like a gluggy bubble is coming up through or around my heart. His dismissive attitude to that and of my history and the next question of “do you get indigestion” made me feel like I wanted to smash him in the face and I’m not even an angry person.

Get another GP to write you a Cardiologist referral. You need a proper ultrasound echocardiogram, and you probably need to be wearing a halter monitor to capture these episodes properly.

I've been down the path that is heart holter, treadmill, specialists... That all takes years to go through. That indigestion comment was from the specialist at the hospital yonks ago now.
I only wish I'd heard of echocardiogram earlier; something the doc at the hospital mentioned he'd try and get me when I was in a+e last weekend. I've got now my GP also getting a referal but I hear that there's a 3 month wait for that.

If you ever find yourself in a Zoom or other video meeting with someone and they're WFH:
Hopefully you've pre-arranged topics or points to work through Ask how long they've been WFH Ask how many of these video meetings they've had recently Reviewing the above, consider that you might be the only person that they've interacted with "face to face" for a while and need some social relief. Even introverts can start missing it. One tell tale sign might be that they seem to be talking off-topic and high on caffeine

Two Aussie cricket legends died in the last 24 hours.
RIP Rod Marsh, 74. RIP Shane Warne, 52 I'm too young to remember much of Rod Marsh but Shane Warne's been huge for a long as I can remember, and a cricketer i grew up watching.

what's the price of gas back home, savages? I've got AUD 2.20/L for 91, 1.99/L for diesel in Her Majesty's Loyal State of South Australia. That works out at NZD 2.35, NZD 2.13. That’s “holy fuck” pricing to me.

Did everyone else hear the rumour about petrol going up 40c/L either at 6pm or tonight? I saw queues at all [both] the gas stations - one guy even filled his boat and drove off with the pump still in it as he made way for others (which in fact shut down the pump for everyone else).
I don't know if it's true, but I filled up my car anyway. I'll scoot up soon and see if it was justified. If it drops 40c/L everyone will be bummed out :P

Heard the rumours, cars on empty.
Option 1 - Wait for ages, likely having to deal with idiots to potentially fill up for 40c less. Option 2 - Waiting till tomorrow where it might be quite for 40c more. Option 2 for me. However, WFH means I'm not desperate to fill it up, and if I go, I would probably only chuck 15L in it. That would do me for the next few weeks. |

I always fill, because I intend to use my car for many years not just to get home and then set fire to it.
Prices hadn't changed at something past 6 at the New World Fuel. 2.857 (91) and 2.007 (diesel). I didn't go to the other one, because I took my battery out of my scooter and the indicators/relays don't work without a battery, felt dodgy because I haven't had a rego on it since 2020.

2.947 and 2.207 today - 4c more for each at the Z.
I assume the rumour of 40c is "true-ish" but will be done gradually over a couple of weeks to mitigate the price shock. Ah well, that's life.
