Only a few weeks until I won't have to add "... in Christchurch, New Zealand" to every Alexa request.
Will certainly make it easier to set up the parents for emergency calling in each room via voice commands, because old. |

"Alexa, what's the temperature outside?"
"It's currently 28 degrees outside." "Alexa, what's the temperature inside?" "It's currently 42 degrees inside" Speaking of which, during these holidays, I've been getting my boy to use Siri to research random history/geography facts that he's interested in, and by the gods its frustrating. There was so much potential when Siri first came out, but it's like they've seriously squandered the opportunity. What year was the first telephone made? Cool. What year was the first computer made? Cool.

I figure it's the wrong type of AI. It's AI designed to understand everyone, and everything. AI designed to grow a deep understanding of you will not only have better answers to your questions, in a lot of cases it will pre-emptively provide you with information.
It's coming, it's going to be awesome and terrible.

Maybe it's too hip - and it knows that hot means cool, and bad means awesome, and it misheard "first" as "worst"?

There's some job interviewing going on in the business I work for at the moment.
I'm so fricking glad I'm not a hiring manager. Three interviews so far today, one asked (the day of the interview) for the interview time to be moved to an earlier time in the day - being half an hour after the request. Another one that emailed in a cancellation an hour before his scheduled interview because he'd double booked(???) Thirdly, another that turned up 45 minutes early. Have they zero consideration that people, especially people that may be looking to hire them, have other things to do in their day than sit around and wait for them?

There's a certain kind of pose that TVNZ likes to have its presenters doing. Can you guess what it is?
I think TVNZ needs to buy better cufflinks.

It's one of the go-to male poses when i shoot weddings too. I don't mind it. I don't like any of the three female arm poses, but Toni's shot has her head in the right place, even if the expression is a little off. Mike's the best shot of the lot.
While the photographer probably only had a couple of minutes at most with the talent, I'm surprised these are the best ones that went to print. They're all pretty meh.

Perhaps some good will come from the terrible weather around NZ. Maybe some of the Joe Public jizzing over record tempatures will start to understand what goes along with this.

Couldn't have CG'd it better myself. Still no word on the core. They lost comms with it pretty early on but no statement to say whether it'd landed or was lost. Assume lost, but no word at all seems strange for a company that's usually pretty good at PR. Edit: as I say that: Quote:

Well, at least something blew up, gotta have some exciting.
According to Musk recovering the side boosters was what matter most, as they had a couple titanium clips which are very expensive and time consuming to produce. Exciting times. Time to build some asteroid mining space stations!

Nah copyright infringement would be SpaceX using Space Oddity for advertising purposes without approval from Bowie's estate or the associated record label.

Considering how bad I anticipated Justice League to be, I grabbed the latest HD release, rather than waiting for a full HD BluRay rip.
I was still surprised about how bad the job they did on Superman. You got better on /r/deepfakes (before they banned it.) Undermined the whole movie, it was terrible. I liked Flash. I reckon he'd have great chemistry with Harley Quinn. A standalone movie with the both of them would be awesome.
