shit was pouring down, and we were laughing at our friend who decided to park on the roof of the parking building in front of us. he had to wait in his car.
despite there being perfectly good undercover parks. he is not a smart man. |

I tried to time it right where I would find a pocket of respite to commute to work, no dice.

would have been on a full day before the rain came along, enough to at least fuck off the fungi that can damage the blossoms and thus the resulting peaches. 100mm of rain apparently only washes off 25% as well. Will dose them again next weekend (periodically sprayed the buds during winter) . Peaches gonna be mean! Last edited by aR Que : 3rd September 2012 at 12:49. |

Just looking Vector's power outage map, it's not great.
I have a friend in West Auckland moving stuff upstairs. Much worse than the flooding in March.

I just came back from the beach, the sound is like stepping out onto LV-426. It's really awesome.
High tide is an hour away, doesn't look like it will come up onto the road, but I'll check it out.

My parents live in Forrest Hill (down the road from the nzg notorious forrest hill motors) and the local park was a lake - I remember being a kid when it was dug out and lowered for 100 year flood protection in the early 90s. (it also feeds into the Wairau valley stormwater system) Never once saw it flood, or even the drains get near the top, late evening yesterday it was literally boiling from water unable to flow through. |

We were up until 1am rotating any linen we could find in the house. Water was inside our downstairs (my office and laundry), seeping through the walls and up through floor boards. Probably only 0.5-1cm all the way through but still something worth worrying about.
Stormwater drains sounded really crazy, and a creek near us was easily a meter higher than it should have been. Feeling fatigued as hell today but a lot of people around us had it a lot worse. Next door had a car & garage partially submerged. Another with a below ground level rumpus room was wading around knee deep.
