I was actually pleasantly surprised by the mostly positive public response to Jacinda being pregnant.
In contrast the cringey response to a racist restaurant in CHCH shows we've still got a lot to work on.

Labour wouldn't want migrant labour anyway because it hates migrants. Maybe Labour can call them "skilled refugees" instead? They like refugees.

Wait for Labour to quietly adjust the target number of houses being built by KiwiBuild (or shift the goal posts). Twyford all but admitted that the many criticisms of it were valid (from the likes of Spark / Infometrics etc), while being interviewed by Mike Hosking this morning.

Totally, KiwiBuild is a response to the politics of the day. Substance, kept promises are not what matters.
Still, it's what got them in power. The alternative was "what housing crisis?"

Fosure, there are still a significant number of people in NZ willing to buy "what housing crisis?" Labour needed to give people something else to buy into, however real it might be.

Children sexually assaulted after consuming alcohol at a Labour event?
Yep, don’t tell the parents seems like the sensible option |
13th March 2018, 19:47 | #226 |
|
It depends on what the primary concern is: protecting the children or protecting the party.

The parents are the people whose job it is to decide what protects or doesn’t protect the children. The party kept crimes against their children secret from them. Looks like protecting the party was the only consideration here.

What’s going on is the general secretary of the Labour Party deciding that some parents should not be told that their children were sexually assaulted at a Party event.
There is no world in which that is acceptable. Quote:

If this was respecting the wishes of the children, how come we all know about it now? One of them at least was not feeling respected.

Yeah, this is fucking great, the only time people are like "oh shit, gotta think about the children" is when a political party can be smeared.

There's nothing factual about "parents should be told if their children are sexually assaulted".
That's like saying "sexual trauma services should be well funded and easy to access" is factual.

I wasn't referring to that one particular statement. But it seems that you are and that you think "parents should be told if their children are sexually assaulted" is a smear on the Labour Party.

Kirton apparently must go. Who had to go when ACC's Sensitive Claims Service collapsed? Who gave a fuck then? Hmmm? People gave a fuck when someone forgot about a letter that was sent. But who was deemed not suitable to govern when a service that at one point was helping thousands of victims had a stark downturn in applicants?
You. Fucking. Cunts.

If it was you would you still want to know even if your kid didn't consent to you knowing and if it meant your knowing would make it harder for them to get through? That's a really difficult question because as parents we want to support our kids and automatically think we can make things better but actually just for the sake of knowing we could make things worse.
