GEORGIE PIE
Ok, so it goes like this. Me and Kidona have been talking about Georgie Pie lately and how it was the shit back in the day. We have heard through the grapevine that some supermarkets still sell the pies but, obviously, under a different name/brand. I mentioned foodtown but had no evidence to back that up.
Can anyone offer any feedback in regards to this? |

I was chatting with someone who had been with progressive's for some years, and said that would make sense as prog's had the old oven's that georgie pie used.
I with great hope went to a couple foodtown's but did not find anything. If I recall they were under the signager range branding. Fark, didnt; see the above post. |

I miss the dollar mince and cheese pies from GP. The ones from jesters are pretty good but they are made in those tiny pie makers like you can get at home. Need to be bigger.

When I was a teen I used to work at foodtown and fucking live off those bad boys. As the article said, they disappeared a fair while ago. The new ones i've seen are deff not the same. Can't speak for all food towns by any means though.
RIP GEORGIE PIE! |

Jester's is fine, but it's not a patch on the glory that was Georgie Pie.
(although, their Pepper Steak pie is the shit when they have it...) |

Jester's = delicious and healthy.
Unfortunately the closest one to Wellington (and the South Island, for that matter) at this point in time is Palmerston North. |

Jesters pies are nice. But way too costly. It really makes me mad spending like $15 and still being hungry.

I remember when I could buy a pie the size of my face for thrupence! Everything is too expensive these days! That's why I wear the same brown cardigan I've had since 1953.

Expanded... ? We're talking about Georgie Pie here, not fine cuisine! What was he eating before? Turnips and cornbread?

Georgie Pie... I think I've maybe had it 6 times total, ever.
Mainly because the only Wellington-area one was in Newtown, and I was (while it was open) based out in Lower Hutt. Was damn tasty though
