Recording of an NPR radio show where some smart guys explain the subprime housing crisis to financial retards like me who don't really understand how the banking system works. Amazingly informative, and entertaining. |

I watched Dances with Wolves Extended Edition last night. The 4 hour runtime cruised by in what felt like a little over 2 hours. Very good.

You haven't seen many really good films then (IMO, naturally).
I'm not saying it's bad, just wouldn't be in my top 20-or-so.

Went to a taping of Wheel of Fortune today, was pretty stoked to find a valid car park ticket in the pay and display slot.
Thank you lots to the person that left that there for others to use, saved me $12! Free parking in town is win. |

Kevin Costner must have been cursed, cause I thought a few of those big budget flops he had could have been big.
Postman was pretty awesome, as was Waterworld. His baseball movies were always the best though, Field of Dreams and For the Love of the Game. |

Cursed with an inability to portray anything other than "Kevin Costner", you mean?

I dunno, Mr Brooks showed a different side of the Costner machine.

Most actors can't break the mould though.
Harrison Ford, rogue who has questionable values but somehow always ends up on the right side of the line. Robert De Niro, mobster or police officer who faces questions about morality and ethics and withdraws as the movie goes. Keanu Reeves, well, whatever it is the fuck Keanu Reeves is. Samuel L Jackson, loud mouthed black man who stands up for black man rights. About the only actor I can think of, off the top of my head who is a leading role actor who can change up his facade, is Christian Bale. |

I think Heikki the rabbit was a pervy old man in a previous life. He insists on accompanying each of us to the loo. There's something very disconcerting about having the piercing gaze of a bunny fixed on you if you go near the toilet door, let alone the mad scrabble to get through the door before you close it, so he can sit and watch you go. Sick, sick bunny.
That or he just can't bear to be separated from his peoples. Nah, he's a pervert.

Generally he plays over the top eccentric characters who have over-stated body language.
Captain Jack Sparrow Sweeny Todd Hunter S Thompson From Hell Ninth Gate Willy Wonka So whilst there is a great "difference" in the scope of the character, the way he plays the role is generally the same, with different parts of body language. |

Certainly in his 'Big' movies that's the case, but in the smaller films there's a lot more subtlety and finesse to his acting, in my opinion. Things like: Chocolat, Blow, Dead Man, Benny & Joon, What's Eating Gilbert Grape. |
